You provide such great detail in your videos. So helpful! Price is a good selling point for Kaplan.

Thanks for putting this together! I'm not planning on taking the bar but I can see how this could be helpful for someone who is looking to take the exam

I really considered Kaplan back when I was taking the bar, liked the price point, but ultimately went with barbri. Wish I hadn’t and saved the money

John, your gripe with the text books was really helpful! Thank you for noting this! I graduated from Howard University School of Law. I’ve paid for Kaplan Bar Review twice, so a free bar prep course would be very helpful for me!

Hey there! I’m an L3 and thinking about bar prep. To clarify, can you jump back and forth from recorded lecture to live lecture as desired so you have the option of live or recorded daily?

Hey man, great stuff, thanks for the review I've definitely narrowed down my options based on your overviews. Also for monthly sweepstakes purposes I should note that I'll be graduating from Boston College Law School this spring (and a free bar prep course would ease the pain I feel whenever I look at my loan disclosure statements) 😂. Keep up the good work!

I know for the UK, universities that have law degrees are extremely highly contested with places being quite low and entry standards being so high. I had friends move from Liverpool to Manchester, Leeds and Durham for their law degree, when a lot of time folks from Liverpool more often than not stick around here :) Forgive a potentially stupid question to answer this but the UK Bar exam would (I'm assuming) be based on UK law vs US law, so do these courses account for these sorts of regional changes or are they very much designed around US Law? As it appears also that the UK Bar is mainly based on being in an apprenticeship with the "exam" more being around a review of your work and eligibility to work well as a lawyer, whereas US Bar seems to be much more of a traditional exam? Also, what is the US application system like?

It is a TOTALLY different system. The Kaplan bar review course (and this video for that matter lol) are aimed at addressing state bar exams within the US. I'm not super familiar with UK system other than to know it's radically different. Even the common term for lawyer is different in the UK - solicitor haha.

Hi John, thank you for your great videos. I have been a French attorney for 22 years, specializing in criminal law for 10 years and then in IP/IT and data protection laws for the past 12 years. I am beginning to look for information on potentially taking the bar exam in the US. My first disappointment was discovering that there is no real reciprocity between France and the US for attorneys. While American attorneys can take a simplified exam to practice in France, the same is not true for French attorneys. We only have the right in a few states, such as California or Texas, to take the bar exam without an LLM. But we must pass the same exam as everyone else. So that's why I'm searching informations. And here is my question : you often say that the major advantage with Kaplan is the live classes. But with the time difference from France, doesn't this advantage disappear? John, I would like to ask one last question: Is Kaplan Bar designed for those who already have an LLM, or can a foreign lawyer like me, who doesn't need an LLM to take the bar exam, take this course to prepare for the exam? Thanks for your answers. Christophe

Very interesting background! Thanks for watching and sharing. To answer your questions, I think Kaplan would still be a good fit. Obviously attending classes might be hard based on time zone differences, but their self-paced video lessons are still very good in my opinion. Also, I am not sure how much it matters that your background and schooling is in French law. Kaplan is a comprehensive course that teaches material to the exam. It is not a repeat of American law school- the course is narrowly tailored to teach you what you need to pass the exam. I think it would be a good fit. Best of luck!

*Sadly law school doesn’t help future lawyers pass the bar. Seems unnatural. Btw- I love your language app reviews.* ❤
