Didn't know that Barney Google and Snuffy Smith had a cartoon. Thanks for uploading ,first time Ive ever saw this one.

They had a few others. One was "Spree For All" released by Paramount in 1947, and an Animated series in the 1960s.

Snuffy Smith also appeared in two live action movies in 1942. Private Snuffy Smith (aka Snuffy Smith: Yardbird) And Hillbilly Blitzkrieg (with Barney Google)

This is a great find since the BARNEY GOOGLE cartoons are considered lost. They were produced in teh 1930s, so were naturally sound. But this comes from a silent Home Movie version. Such as ti is, this is still great to see.

When I was young I remember the Barney Google & Snuffy Smith comic in the papers. It was mostly about Snuffy Smith, with Barney Google appearing once in a GREAT while.

If I remember correctly, the comic was originally Barney Google, and later on included Snuffy Smith with Barney checking in once in a while, then later just became Snuffy Smith. It reminds me how the Fritzy Ritz cartoons eventually became a comic about her niece Nancy (then of course the comic became "Nancy").

In the 1970's there was a flavored peanut butter called Koogle. It came in flavors like chocolate and banana. (I remember trying banana-flavored Koogle and not liking it.) The TV commercials for Koogle used a song that was obviously based on Barney Google's theme song: "Peanuty Koogle with the Koo-Koo-Koggley eyes".

@@Craigs_Cartoon_Capers I remembered you having a collection of film prints of old cartoons. I think you used to show Popeye cartoons at the annual Popeye's Picnic in Chester, Illinois. (Not that I've been to one. I haven't been outside of Florida since 1987. But I seem to remember reading about it in the newsmagazine. Wasn't the side of the Chester Opera House (now Spinach Can Collectibles) used as a "screen"?) I've slipped and let my membership expire too. I really need to get around to renewing it (and buying the back issues of the newsmagazine that I've missed.)

My mom was singing this song and suggested I name my piebald cat which looks like one of those wall clocks with the big yellow eyes and the swinging tail Barney Google. Had no idea who she was talking about. As I'm watching an episode of Night Court where Harry's father sings the song, correctly might I add. I had to look it up.
