I never actually understood this in the class but once I watched a couple of physics videos in the you tube I got it and I finally solved these types of questions alone thanks to the KZbin teachers out there. I really appreciate all the teachers that put educational content without holding back to watch for free. Really appreciate it

My teacher gave us a problem with the angle and the string length, but no velocity. So difficult to figure out...

why we didn’t add mv^2/R to the opposite direction of tx force in the first example

would the net force on the tetherball be the same as the tension?

No, the tether ball is being acted upon by weight and tension. The net force is the sum of these two vectors, which would end up being a vector pointing in toward the center of the circular orbit. By the definition of centripetal force, this sum of forces equals the centripetal force.
