My instructor always told us. If someone has a gun, or a knife, and gets the drop on you. Realize, this isn't the movies, this is real life, and you more than likely are going to get hurt, or killed. But you got to give it all you got, if you want to live!!!!!!

I was sent to Isreal to learn Krav Maga weapons training because at the time the only Masters were located in Isreal. It was some of the most beneficial training I have ever received and concepts work for all different situations involving hand to hand. What he teaches is the exact tactics I learned and when I teach it I emphasize how you disarm them with your words first by making yourself a weak target. Don't seem to panic because that could make his anxiety go up but look scared and ready to comply so he believes he has complete control.

I wanna see the initial attacker resist the "victim" while attempting to take the weapon. No attacker just sits or stands there letting their weapon get taken from them. The attacker will do everything in their power to maintain control. So I'd like to see what that looks like.

In Rio u give em the crap in your pocket and move on… but for the girl about to be abducted or worse this is better then being a helpless victim….. look what happened in San Fran it seems as if these disarms might have worked and one still got shot just stopping an assault so what’s to lose?

We had an experienced Krav Maga instructor at my gym last year who tried to disarm an armed guy… He got shot in the head. One reason; They train with prop guns made of rubber or rubberized plastic… Not metal guns that are oiled and slippery. He lost the grip and the guy shot him. Texture and realism makes all the difference.

I don’t see how you’d lose a finger unless you were blocking the barrel…. : / I APPRECIATE THE IDEAS.. BUT.... THE REALITY IS, JUST FROM THE OPENING DEMONSTRATION IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO, I STOPPED WATCHING. THE REALITY IS ON THAT DEMONSTRATION? THE SECONDS IT TAKES YOU TO ACCESS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PROTECT YOUR CENTER MASS AND START MOVING TO DO THAT? THE ATTACKER IS GOING TO INSTANTLY START COUNTER MOVING TOO! WHICH MEANS THIS SCENERIO WILL NOT PLAY OUT LIKE YOU DEMONSTRATE. YOU HAVE TO EITHER ACT INSTANEOUSLY WHEN APPROACHED! OR YOU JUST WONT BE ABLE TO DEFEND AT ALL, BECAUSE THE ATTACKER COMES RIGHT UP TO YOU AND SHOOTS YOU! OR? YOU HAVE TO BE AWARE OF SOMEONE PLANNING TO ATTACK YOU, BEFORE THEY DO, AND MAKE SOME VERY QUICK DEFENSIVE MOVES FROM THERE. IF I SEE SOMEONE LOOKING AT ME A LITTLE TOO MUCH, AND HE IS OFF TO EITHER SIDE OF ME OR IN FRONT OR IN BACK OF ME? IM GOING TO THINK OF A WAY TO EITHER GET OUT OF HIS RANGE ALTOGETHER AND TRY TO LOSE HIM. OR? I AM GOING TO ACT AS IF I DO NOT NOTICE HIM AND THEN MAKE MOVES TO ATTACK HIM FIRST, AND FIND OUT WHO HE IS AND WHY HE IS FOLLOWING ME, AND WHAT HE WANTS EXACTLY. WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE DONE BY FORCE! PREFERABLY WITH USE OF MY CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY GUN! AWARENESS IS THEEEEEEE FIRST ORDER OF ANY SELF DEFENSE OPTIONS! IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY THREATS OR DANGERS? YOU CANNOT BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH ANY! AWARENESS IS FIRST, AND SECOND IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE TO BE AS PREPARED AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY BE FOR JUST ABOUT ANY SITUATION. FOR THAT YOU NEED TO ALWAYS BE HEALTHY, FIT AND STRONG, HAVE YOUR GUN ON YOU AND SOME OTHER GO TO WEAPONS FOR ANY SUDDEN ADAPTATIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE TO MAKE TO PROTECT AND DEFEND YOURSELF AND TO STOP THE THREAT/S! THE OVER ALL GOAL IS TO STOP THE THREAT/s AND GET TO SAFETY. ONCE YOU ARE SAFE? YOU CAN THEN TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHO, WHAT, WHY, ETC... BECAUSE WHY IS SOMEONE TRYING TO HURT YOU TO BEGIN WITH??? "FIGHTING" TECHNIQUES ARE JUST RELIABLE! WHAT IS ALWAYS RELIABLE IN TERMS OF PHYSICAL SELF DEFENSE? IS WRESTLING, JUDO, OR JUJITSU! WHY? BECAUSE ALL OF THOSE INVOLVE UP CLOSE AND VERY PERSONAL PHYSICAL TRAINING! GRABBING, RESTRAINING, LOCKING, CHOKING, BREAKING JOINTS ( wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles ) ALL AT VERY INTIMATE POSITIONS. WHICH IS USUALLY ALWAYS WHERE A STREET FIGHT OR ATTACK ENDS UP! BUT FOR ANYTHING HAPPENING BEFORE IT COMES TO ANYTHING UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL OR GROUND DEFENSE? YOU NEED TO BE AWARE, BE PREPARED, AND HAVE YOUR CONSTITUTIONALLY SUPPORTED AND PROTECTED GUN/S ON YOU! THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE!

What happens if they fire during the initial grab, will the hand fall off the moving slide, or is the intent to angle and break their grip on the firearm?
@TheSeanBampton
@TheSeanBampton 3 жыл бұрын
My old Instructor said whenever a gun is involved, someone is going to get hurt regardless, and you never pull a weapon unless you intend on using it. Your hand could get pinched on the slide if they fire, or it could mean you take a round in the opposing shoulder (away from vital organs) but you're going to live and you can still fight with a bullet in you. What's vital in all of the training is to render the assailant irrelevant, and if you have their weapon, then you're coming at them from a position of strength.
@williamle-ed2nk
@williamle-ed2nk 3 жыл бұрын
A decent grip on the slide will prevent the gun from chambering another round after the first shot. That will effectively put the gun out of the fight as a firearm until another round is manually chambered. Additionally, if you can put the slide out of battery when you grab it they won't be able to get that first shot off. I didn't watch the full video, so I don't know if that was mentioned.

This is not meant to be facetious but could the instructor do a video discussing how many times they've had to do this in the real world. Why are all the scenarios two on one, with the attacker holding the victim at gunpoint with only one hand? I'd like to see the trainer let Tetiana hold him at gunpoint how she would normally draw. @18:50 scenario Why doesn't she control the firearm and take down the attacker if drawing isn't an option? She has the definite advantage coming from behind to protect her principle. @19:00 Walking into a building why is the principle walking in first ahead of security? Getting in front of the principle and drawing does seem best. But the following of her running up 10 feet in the line of site of the attacker and being able to perform a disarm before being shot seems very unlikely. It would probably be best to run and tackle the attacker at that point instead. Is the principle not briefed on how to react at all? Why is the attacker static? The scenarios are ok to drill reaction but I'm very skeptical of any martial art where the attacker remains static and doesn't try to maintain control or fight back at all. @ 25:25 Not staying on top of the attacker allows the them to pickup the firearm when a take down could've maintained better control. UF PRO has a pretty good video using simunition that shows how effective some of these techniques maybe or not. I think it's a pretty scary that you teach a gun technique by grabbing and punching its prehistoric everyone should know by now if they have any remote aspect of fighting

@@danekane451 I think you need to watch that video again. He is redirecting the gun while stepping into the person attacking taking their mindset of assaulting you into defense mode. Mike Tyson says it best everybody has a plan until they hit in the face.

And the instructor is showing you a way not the way there’s other ways you can do the same technique if you feel comfortable going with two hands you can do that but your attack options have to change you can use head butts and knees but the most important thing is you redirect the weapon and you drive in to attacking the attacker.

Let me tell you one thing. Anybody with a half a clue who is holding a fire arm wouldn't stand within reach of someone without firearm. Hence these techniques are for idiots who will get shot. See comments of others who have tried... And - strike - break - take - is against the unresisting attacker -like hell that will work in reality. Just give the attacker what he wants. Goods can be replaced -your life can not. These techniques are irresponsible and dangerous. Stay away!! Somebody is gonna get hurt because of this stupid video.

Why would you want to trust someone who clearly values your life less than their carnal pleasure or greed? What is stopping them from shooting you just for kicks or because they thought you can identify them?
