Pharrell is an insanely eloquent and clear speaker, and Rick did such a great job of asking timely, thought-provoking questions to have Pharrell dive even deeper. This was a great interview. I could listen to them have "casual" conversation for hours

I am just commenting, because there might be a chance rick Rubin or Pharrell could read my words. I already reached a point where I KNOW my art won't reach any kind of heights of any of these both careers, but I am thankful for their work and thoughts, because I feel as creative I am not alone with certain thoughts. Anyone else stumbling across this, keep on creating, hone your craft and speak from the soul/heart. Your perspective an view on the world matters, at least to you and to the ones around you. One might not get monetarily enough, but you feed the souls of your loved ones.
@ExamplesOfMyExistence17 күн бұрын
You're greater than what you see. You don't know anything of where your art could reach, don't tell yourself otherwise especially if its not a choice you wish to make. You control where you go by your decisions and thoughts, be wary of the story you tell yourself.

@@ExamplesOfMyExistence Thank you for that very self-reflective comment! I appreciate your view on my struggle. Sure I've got a certain view of my artistic as well as personal journey I go through while being creative. I don't know maybe I just want to vent a little bit and vocalize my inner frustrations. It might be part social media and simply lack of eyes on my work. I mean without trying to sound like I want to be an "influencer", it is just. At the end, Art / Music is meant to be looked at and heard, otherwise it isn't art. The play and reaction with the viewer and audience is in symbiosis with the creation process of the artist. Otherwise what is it other than a therapeutic practice, or a hobby?
@ExamplesOfMyExistence16 күн бұрын
@@LevelH34D No problem family. Of course we all vent, and I understand the frustration of the lack of validation and/or acceptance. I do have to ask though, are you not an observer of the art you create? Is getting views on social media from random people really what makes this expression of yourself art? I’m sure you go out into the world whether for work or a social life maybe food, the clothing you wear when you go out, is that not a unique expression of yourself that’s others see and experience constantly? Brother when you talk to others are you not sharing your personal vision? It’s all simpler than we think, start small with little things you can share and show, decide what you want to do and how to do it, but be patient with yourself and allow it to come. Perhaps you reach no one as you say, if this isn’t satisfactory change what you’re doing. Art is expression brother, what you want out of it is what you will work to get. Do not do the same thing with no results and expect it to change (I don’t know your life or things you’ve done, take these words as you will)

I don’t know why, perhaps from growing up a musician and not too much younger than Pharrell, but I found myself crying all throughout the entire Piece by Piece. Especially as a Filipino-American, they really did Chad Hugo well, despite the lawsuit issues they’re having. I’m nowhere near as successful as a musician, but it literally was like looking at a reflection of my own life, and what a creative way to do so. I really hope him and Chad patch things up.

@ really? Tell me what’s better, Neptunes sh!t or everything Pharrell did after that? All that music was laid down by Chad. Down to the drum programming. Also, Pharrell never could work alone, always needed some kind of muse when Chad stepped back. Just because Chad prefers less spotlight doesn’t mean he’s a snake. Pharrell wouldn’t be capable of the things he does now if it wasn’t for Chad. Even Pharrell would say that. Why you think he slowed down on the music to seek other ventures? You obviously didn’t watch movie thoroughly. TBH, Pharrell’s the real snake, but I mean that in the best way possible. He’s an inspirational icon either way. This whole beef is just unfortunate.

@@pastensebro both of them apart probably wouldnt be were they are today. You can say “whats better neptunes stuff or Pharrells solo stuff” and come to the conclusion that neptunes stuff is better but you can say the same thing about neptunes stuff vs solely chads stuff. Them together is better than either apart. I just hope they resolve this issue before they are both no longer

This is a powerful interview. Thank yall both. I really resonate with what Pharrell was speaking on regarding the Spiritual impact of Music , and how he found that early in the Church. As a child I do not remember much about the sermons in ( Baptist) Church , but in hindsight I do remember feeling things through the music , voices, and instruments that were used . The choir , and the musicians spoke things I couldnt explain until now in that music.. I keep learning that Music is really a spiritual vibration… and the voices, momentum , and instruments in the music speak their own language.. I always say that I want more Rap Musicians to utilize more live instrumentation because it would literally bring life to their music .. and I think eventually major healing/redirection in messaging too..

When Pharrell said at the end that he has long prayers and even pray for people he lost in contact with, that's a person who cares about people. And him teaching his kids empathy and humility through actions. That's very inspiring to just help people just because (no rewards or expecting of getting something back)
