Tetrapanax Rex Vs Running Bamboo

Hi I have some bamboo rhizomes that are likely to encounter the roots of my Tetrapanax Rex in the near future. I am concerned about the potential harm this may cause to my Tetrapanax Rex.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions you may have on how to prevent or mitigate any negative effects on this plant or future plants . If you have any successful methods of bamboo containment, other than bamboo barriers, I would be delighted to hear about them.

Bamboo is the death of me…. It takes over everything. The things that then start living in it eat the garden up. I get rid of bambo. Lovely tetrapanex!

It's most definitely the barrier option. The Bamboo is lovely but the options for planting multiply if it is kept at the back. The Tetrapanax will be amazing.

I'd say barrier all the way boss, that Bamboo will rampage unchecked otherwise!

It's been a good year for bamboo growth, beed to get it in check for next spring

I'd do the barrier. Amazes me when I see running bamboo types being sold in diy stores with no warning 😮

100% in b&q they somtimes label it as mixed bamboo! No warning of running.

There was a surge in the popularity of bamboo several decades ago, which is why it is now becoming a problem 40, 30, and 20 years later. My bamboo was planted by the previous owner just over 20 years ago. They are certainly phasing out running types in favor of clumping varieties, but I am not aware of a complete ban on running bamboo..

I'd go barrier route or your other beautiful plants might not get enough sun light or nutrients. A wise man told me once that bamboo will just spread and grow really tall if it had it's way.
