It's really funny, Soviet in this story is not sneaky at all, they're simply trying to sell the game, while maximizing profit, like a proper businessman, the Hungary guy tried to play everyone, like an average sneaky businessman, and Britain used government connection to try to force a deal, like Britain. The world needs honest businessmen like Henk Rogers. And BTW Robert Maxwell was Ghislaine Maxwell's father.

And the doc is kind of lying about no copyright law, the state has the of distribution, but in the law 98/100 it is s "SECTION 98. Author's rights The author receives the right: to publication, reproduction and distribution of his works by any lawful means under his own name, under a pseudonym, or anonymously; to the integrity of his work; to receive compensation for the use of his work by other persons except in the cases provided by law. The rates of copyright royalty are laid down by the legislation of the USSR and the Union Republics." So the state have the monopoly os distribution but the creator herself own the copyright

I really enjoyed the AppleTV+ movie, and love to see it was fairly accurate where it mattered! I know Henk and Alexey were part of making the film but I still think it's an odd choice to have whitewashed Henk.

"where it mattered" Like the beatings, the chase scenes, the destruction of the guys home and constant threats? Those parts? Barely any of the Tetris movie was true.

I agree it was odd they hired a white Brit to play a Dutch-born Austronesian descent American hehe...also Patjinov's actor has reddish hair over brunette although at least the actor was Russian (although I'm not sure what ethnicity Patjinov is).

Poor Pajitnov got royally screwed over by his government in Russia. I'm sure he's a wealth man today but the absolute peak of its popularity was surely in the late 80s when it hit the Gameboy. No doubt the Russian government made millions and the poor creator didnt see any of that until he left the country. One of the original (and by far the greatest) puzzle games, and definitely the first I ever had any interest in playing. Nowadays there are untold crappy Tetris knockoffs!!!

Would it have been so hard for BBC to added voice over English translations instead of constant text inserts? Geesh.
@aylinasghary29594 ай бұрын
subtitles are much better than dubbing, as you get to hear the person's real voice and the way they authentically delivered what they said.
@TheRadioAteMyTV4 ай бұрын
@@aylinasghary2959 Agreed, but it also means, unless you watch it twice, you have to split your attention between reading and hearing, and when we are talking about judging inflection, reading makes it way harder. Shogun (2024) was a nightmare to read 80 percent of the movie. I could have read the book if I wanted to read the whole thing.
@aylinasghary29594 ай бұрын
@TheRadioAteMyTV Personally I feel like just looking at the person from your peripheral vision while you read the subtitles is just fine, but then again like you said if you can't do that easily/are occupied with another simultaneous task which causes you not to have full visual attention I see why it can be bothersome. The best option would obviously be being able to make a choice on whether you want either or any, but this is a youtube upload so... 🤷♂
@TheRadioAteMyTV4 ай бұрын
@@aylinasghary2959 Exactly, and for Shogun, because the cast was so good, it meant I did have to watch almost all of it twice to be allowed to appreciate the fine work the actors were doing, while just skimming the words the 2nd time through. Sure extends the time in front of the screen though.

If you don't mind awful costumes and hair and make up, along with enormous amounts of (made up) exposition. However, the acting was top notch. Funny thing is for Tetris, the actors, who were all very good looking weren't as attractive as the real life people. That's rare.
