Its February, 2023 After purchasing a new Hk usp 9mm v7lem this past Saturday. I finally had a chance to shoot it and it was exciting ! The build quality and feel of the gun is outstanding, and different from anything I own. I'm thrilled with the gun, long live Hk USP's 👍

Hey James, thanks for continuing to answer my questions, you are the guy to ask. I have a P30 that I plan on using as my defensive weapon for the foreseeable future. Besides magazine springs/extra magazines and replacement recoil springs, is there any other parts that are worth keeping on hand? Also I haven’t been able to find a recommended replacement schedule for the recoil spring, any recommendations on that?

As always, solid info James! Question: Am I correct in that you use the word "solvent" and "lube" interchangeably when cleaning your firearms? The reason I ask is that I also use Slip 2000 EWL, but I use it primarily for lubrication, not as a solvent for cleaning. For cleaning I use Slip 2000 725 Gun Cleaner. I was not aware that EWL could be solely used as both a solvent and as a cleaner?

Speaking of magazines, what’s the best way to go about cleaning neutered pinned magazines?

Not sure which magazines you are referring to. All my H&K magazines, regardless of capacity are cleaned by removing the baseplate and then internals and using cleaning patches and q-tips.

With his knowledge and skill and his generational service to county forefront,I genuinely enjoy the man’s skill with humour and children,second to none. What do you recommend for spring maintenance? I’ve seen the recoil springs for HK’s should be replaced about every 10-15k rounds, but what about the other springs like hammer spring, trigger return spring, and firing pin spring? I have a USP and P30 that I carry and shoot often, and also dry fire a lot as well. Have almost thought about getting 2 of the same guns I carry, one to carry and one to shoot/practice with so I don’t have to worry about parts failure. Run a few thousand rounds to break in and buy another to train
@teufelshundtactical2 жыл бұрын
10k is a great round about recommendation for springs, but you can certainly go further.
@timewing46112 жыл бұрын
@@teufelshundtactical awesome, thank you. That’s kind of what I was thinking, just replacing all spring when I do the RSA. I love how durable these guns are. I’ve put 3k rounds through both my USP and my 92fs and the 92 already needs some new springs. To be fair though I dry fire the hell out of these two guns. I still love my 92 but the USP is my favorite

Good video man! You sound like the KZbin resident expert on all things HK you have a subscribe from me! Question, I just picked up a used usp full size new to me, date code 2003, to me it looks like the slide was cerekoted it's a glossy shiny black, I'm not sure if that was ever an oem slide finish? All the other HK's I've seen were more of a matte / grayish black slide. Also any suggestions if I should be replacing components at the age of the pistol just to be on the safe side not knowing the round count?

Is there any reason not to wash the gun with a garden hose (after detail stripping it) and then drying out the nooks and crannies with high pressure air? I use my USP as my carry gun for very dirty outdoor activities and this seems the best way to clean it when it REALLY eats mud and dirt.

I’ve noticed on my USP that just under the hammer, there’s a lot of black grease. I presume it’s just grease with carbon imbedded. How do I clean that out and regrease?

Yes. A complete disassembly, cleaning, inspection and reassembly, like what I offer is the best way to get into those areas you cannot otherwise reach and clean out carbon and gunk build up and light surface rust and properly relubricate.
