UK Gladiators - Series 5 1996 - Episode 14 - Southern Final - 28th December 1996
Here are the Southern finalists!
Celia "CJ" Duffield (Army cadet trainer from Winchester, Hampshire) versus Andreya Wharry (Stain glass window designer from Newquay, Cornwall)
Mark Mottram (Plumber and stuntman from Chingford, East London) versus Freddie McGovern (Fitness instructor and personal trainer from South London)
Notes: Only one female and one male contender will go through to the North vs. South Final to become Southern champions of Gladiators 1996.
Out of all the events, Pendulum appears in the Southern Final.
Gauntlet appears in the Southern Final as a core event that replaces Duel in the Southern Final.
It does not feature the brand new event, Sumo Ball in the Southern Final.
The events are listed the same in an event line-up since the Northern Final.
There are no 'Time Out' segments of the Gladiators’ winter training camp at Coco Beach, in Mauritius to be shown in the Southern Final of Gladiators.
Absent: Nightshade and Zodiac.

I like Wolf. Whether he's "in character" or not, he genuinely seems like a class act. Regardless, he's certainly better at being a heel who isn't a nuisance compared to the Wolf of 2008 American Gladiators. Wow, those were some fast Eliminators! The women's was a real shock!

Wolfs heel persona is like a watered down version of Austins heel run in the summer of 2001. Far to many try to take on the Triple H heel persona of a being a total a*s as Ross used to call him,, if your gonna play a heel youve got to have some comedian in it otherwise it just comes across as boring or over the top. Triple H it worked in WWF because he was working with other more comedic faces or heels, it did need a hard bast@rd persona to expand the horizons. Wolf was charming with his act and wasnt serious with it.

Yet he completely ignores Warrior high tackling Freddie and breaking his nose in the next game. Dunno what agreement Warrior had with John Anderson but he always got away with high tackling and pinning in gauntlet(a couple of times he got called out in gauntlet and acted like a bitch)

Good to see Gladiators came to it's senses and banned high tackles in Power Ball. I can't remember what season it was (4? may have been the Paul Field semi final) but in one of the men's games Shadow and his 19 stone of mass came flying in over the top of a basket and grabbed the contender by he's neck forcing him to the ground. The poor guy couldn't get up and had to leave the show, I hope he made a full recovery as it looked really bad. John Anderson really was an old windbag, he didn't like Mark's use of the ball to try and gain a small advantage over the 3 massive gladiators yet he allowed Warrior to high tackle Freddie and bloody his nose.

In Australian Gladiators if a Gladiators performed a Head-High Tackle, the contender get 2 POINTS on a penalty If it happened in American Gladiators the Gladiator would be RED CARDED & Sent Off leaving the remaining gladiators to play 2 vs 2

For once I thought Panther was doing a excellent job, until JA started telling her off for tackling high. No more so than Warrior and some of the guys. So Vogue finally has a win on The Wall, her first time on the right side also.... John Sachs failed to mention that Falcon has never caught a contender either after doing celebrity specials and a go at it oerviously in this season and last season...

To be fair Freddie was rather lucky to get this far considering what happened to Emmil in the previous episode, we'll never know now if Emmil would've beaten Mark and possibly been the champion himself

Patrick Dale from southern heat 3. He had done really well but suffered a nasty fall in Hit & Run and had to pull out just before the eliminator, shame really he seemed a genuinely nice guy.

I think there was strategy to throw off the gladiators. If it was taunting, the gladiators would have reacted differently.

Mark did nothing wrong at all throughout the episode, if he did shove the ball and it made contact with the Gladiators face he would've been penalized if he went on to score with that same ball.

In that event the referee earlier let Rhino carry on pushing Mark well out of his zone, and one of the gladiators grabbed him with his arms, neither did the referee do anything about, pretty sure Mark was upset at that more than at the Wolf.
