UK Gladiators: Ashes 2 1996 - Episode 2 - Heat 2 - 5th October 1996 (Australia) / 25th January 1997 (UK)
Catherine Arlove (Australia) (Physiotherapist and personal trainer from Melbourne) versus Hannah Owens (United Kingdom) (Hatmaker and mother from Whitchurch, Shropshire)
Paul Stubbs (Australia) (Bricklayer from Gold Coast, Queensland) versus Mark Everitt (United Kingdom) (Residential care worker from Boston, Lincolnshire)
Notes: The Wall is not in the second heat of the second Ashes which is supposed to be in the second heat, same as the first t heat, previously as part of a base of appearance as the main event.
Gauntlet is in the second heat of the second Ashes series as a core event in an event line-up.
Duel is in the second heat, which is not meant to or is not supposed to be the second heat of the second Ashes.

What a sensational return for Mark Everitt. Just like Emil was called up to make it up for his past misfortune (as well as Buster's absence), Everitt came back because he had unfinished business after IG 2 and because Motram was missing. Everitt had such a great night that he almost broke Peggy Oddita's points record. BUT, I do agree with the Aussie complaint after Powerball. The British Glads never even touched Mark. They might as well have removed the 3rd Glad for these games, like they did later.

In Australian Gladiators when they play GAUNTLET the Gladiators with the Power-Pads always try to grab & wrestle the Contenders/Challengers to the floor which makes me think they need to go back to school & study the rules of the game better, plus it always seems the gladiators try to pin the contenders to the floor as well meaning the challengers can only crawl along the floor in order to move forward.

In the Australian gauntlet the gladiators regularly trapped the contenders with the massive pads and grabbed contenders by the neck in hang tough which wasn’t allowed in the uk

The only reason Mark beat Paul is that they gave Paul Ace and Saracen in Powerball. If they subbed Ace for Condor or Tower, this would have gone the other way. Their eliminator times are almost identical.

They gave Emil 2 Aussie gladiators on powerball in the previous heat so this was done to even it up. Granted condor and delta did at least make a couple of tackles on the Aussie contenders where as vogue/laser and ace/Saracen just double teamed lol

Did you see the aussies in the gauntlet ? It was shameful their tactics in that. I did think it was ridiculius having 3 glads in powerball, they should have had 4 and just made it the 2 on 1 or just drop 1 and make it 1 v 1 free for all.

What a truly applying interview by Laser. Such a bad loser. That comment, she was lucky I lost my poll, that's all I can say.... Good on Mike Hammond for putting her stright. It was Catherine that contributed to her losing her stick from thoes hard hits too her head. Catherine matched Laser blow for blow and came out the victor from her tremendous effort in attacking back. Laser wasn't expecting that and had a bad attuide. She was too eager to be the new Nightshade mean girl of Duel.

It was actually refreshing at this point to see a female Gladiator who was a bit feisty - Laser was one of the most determined Gladiators on Duel and Suspension Bridge, she certainly wasn't boring to watch!

@gquinn4159 4 жыл бұрын
@@drewwrixen6918 I don't disagree with you in regards to her efforts on Duel and Suspension Bridge in the domestic series, Powerball also. She did very well, especially for a new glad thrown in at the deep end the way she was. I just didn't like her attitude in this interview. I don't see her being feisty in a postive way here. Just looking pissed off and red faced because she was not expecting that fight from Catherine after some of the rubbish contenders in the domestic series she had faced. Be gracious and admit defeat, give credit when its deserved (certainly was due in Catherine's case) and learn from mistakes. I'm with Mike Hammond in this one. Nightshade and Scorpio before her could be rather feisty and Rebel had a right gob on her in later seasons.

For the life of me I don't get why Hannah was the first choice and CJ (a domestic semi finalist) was a standby. Hammond alluded to calling her up at the last minute, so looks like someone else couldn't make it either. What a mess these choices were. The Aussies brought their best and the Brits had 2 scrubs, Sarah getting injured after 1 event and Celia coming in cold.

Didn't really like the 3 vs 2 format for POWERBALL in The Ashes, it would've been much fairer on everyone if it was the 2 vs 2 format used in The Springbok Challenge & then later in the domestic Series 7.

This was probably why it switched to 1 vs 1 in series 7 and 8 with it going back to 3 vs 2 in the revival (except one gladiator had to stay in the middle).

This is "The Ashes", i.e. only Britain and Australia are in the competition. The name of the competition is taken from the famous cricket rivalry between England and Australia. Two Scoops Berry is American, and is incidentally still very fit after he came out of jail after serving 10 to 20!

Horrendous refereeing. The Aussies were right to be annoyed. I don't know what was up with Saracen, tackling Paul by the throat 14:04 & 14:48 and pinning him to the floor in Powerball 14:42 then actually throwing his ramrod at him in Gauntlet 21:35 but he got no rebuke for it. And then Mark pulls Tower against him by the helmet 23:37 then does the same to Taipan 24:14 but they're the ones who get penalised for wrestling!
