Depends on the sediment from the rivers after a rain. I lived in California, and the water may look "nice" but it's far more polluted than anything in Texas. If you disagree, then you are uneducated on it, especially currents from the mississippi river, flows, sediment types and the time of year. Try to learn it.

Located on the Bolivar Peninsula, Crystal Beach is a quiet stretch of beach that spans across seven miles. This is one of the best beaches in Texas I believe.

@@laverdadbuscador Beautiful beach water. Bright blue. While chest deep in water, you can still see your feet clearly. Meanwhile in most Texas beaches, you’ll be lucky to see your feet clearly if you are just above the ankle depth. Many beaches in Texas do not have fluffy, white sand, but Destin does. Galveston sand is very compacted.

Sadly yeah it is. The water is brown due to all the oil spills and the sand is polluted with garbage. Been that way since I was a little kid and hasn’t changed judging by the looks of this vid.

I went to Galveston and there was a noticeable smell. Port agrandas is decent. SPI is great clean water. Boca chica in Brownsville is the best for shore fishing, no development and no tourists

If I'm not mistaken, all the sewage and crap that floats down the Rio Grande dumps out there not too far south from South Padre. Don't know if that could move northwards.

Then come to northern coast of sardinia or southern sicily in Italy or southern coasts of greece and then you'll be able to speak. Come on, there's no comparison between an ocean and a warm sea like ours. In addition, the ocean is far more dangerous because of its fauna ( deathly jellyfish and sharks) and its always stormy. Here we have often peaceful days with calm sea and very clear water, especially in smaller bays where sand is white ;) However i have to admit the only thing that mediterranean sea hasn't is a good place to surf, about that the ocean is far better

Agreed! I was totally being light hearted with my comment, we moved to SoCal from Texas so the ocean experience is like night and day for us but I totally agree the beaches in the south of france and italy are some of the best in the world. Here (in SoCal) we don't get any storms or bad weather because the ocean temps are so cool year round, we also don't have any jellyfish to speak of for the same reason. (we do have stingrays tho!)

Great topic, but there is no way Stewart Beach should be on this list. It's easy to get to and it's in Galveston, and I guess that's why it got as high as it did on the poll, but it offers nothing more than any other beach in Galveston, other than vendors. It's uglier, in my opinion, because it has no dunes and basically all natural features are erased by the vendors. Maybe some people like that?

South Padre would be better if it had more as in a world-acclaimed aquarium or major themepark considering it's constantly full of visitors year round. But, you can thank the four RGV counties that refuse to pony up funds to add attractions down there. Hispanic, elected officials do the Mexican thing and constantly steal from coffers.

North Padre is much better than Galveston. Sorry Galveston but your surf is the worst in Texas and the brown water is not inviting at all. Plus having a homeless shelter on the Island and sketchy areas is funky also. No offense homeless people trying to get it together

Elizabeth Davis I wouldn't doubt it as the Lower RGV has become so full of illegals staking claims to areas since our gov't won't do anything to protect us down here. Even the few Cameron County cities which had at least a 33% Anglo population just 20 years ago are now overrun with Hispanics of which a majority are 1st generation or no older than 2nd generation Texas residents. They come here but refuse to assimilate, thus bringing their ways with them. Therefore, I wouldn't doubt that Louie's Backyard is now run by Mexican drug cartels.
