Here's a lesson showing Tommy Shannon's bass line on SVR's Texas Flood... kzbin.info/www/bejne/p37GeJuLrtiioa8

Tommy Shannon ! Oh, my Greg! He is really the perfect blues rock shuffle guy! I never met Tommy, but did meet and talk to SRV on two separate occasions .
@GregsBassShed Жыл бұрын
@@anthonycook4297 I bet that was really interesting. Tommy Shannon was a newer find for me about 4 years ago but he’s me of my favourites now for Blues - ticks all the boxes for me!

@@GregsBassShedcan’t you play the 1, 8, flat7, 5….for that song? I use that or a 1,5, flat7,5…or 1, 8, flat7, 8…I’m a beginner Bass player switching from guitar and I use that I would guess be called a blues box variety of those different notes a lot. I don’t see any lessons doing that. Why? I am self taught that might explain something…lol.
@GregsBassShed7 ай бұрын
@@LastTrump7 yes you can play that pattern too. It works well for Blues. But this lesson was inspired by the ‘Pride & Joy’ Tommy Shannon bass line which uses the patterns I showed in this lesson. Remember that you don’t have to use all the patterns in every bass line.
@LastTrump77 ай бұрын
@@GregsBassShed Thanks learning a lot from your lessons. Just being self taught I have certain patterns and shapes I am use to using and maybe stuck in them. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing…lol.

I like the way this video started. Playing...just playing to give us a sample. So many other websites start with advertisements by the site owner about "what's coming up." Get to the point. Good video. Thanks for teaching us.

Another solid gold lesson - Thank you Greg. Someone has commented about the number of views increasing. Can I just say I think the reason is because the lessons are so good and varied and provide everyone, whatever their level, with something they can utilise.

That A-Bb-B turnaround is so tired and worn out, I would play almost anything instead.
@GregsBassShed2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting Frank. You say it’s ‘tired and worn out’ and I say it’s a classic. That’s what I love about music - it’s so personal in regards to what each individual likes. My advice to you would be that if you’re not feeling it then don’t play it!
