I drove and operated a Big John tree spade in the Houston and surrounding area for over 30 years. I planted a large verity of oaks and pines for new homes and commercial and road sides. It's interesting to see how the trees I planted have matured over the years. I estimate I transplanted 50K trees.

Thats why they call it the water oak because it was always riddle with desease when they are old and probly held water . people probly used for sorce of watert back along time ago

If it doesn’t like too much water that probably means it holds it water, just a guess
