@@KayakCliff Yes sir. Thank you for the address to the gate and ramp. We went and fished at the 377 bridge a couple of days ago. Your info on the mileage was also nice to know. Looks like it will be good camping creek side. Thanks again!

Great video! Have you ever paddled the east side of Denton Creek? (Grapevine Dam to Carrollton Dam)
@KayakCliff2 жыл бұрын
No, I have not. Have you paddled it? It looks like it gets pretty congested in certain places with lots of trees that have fallen over. I have often thought about what it would be like….🤔
@TheAdventureCuisine2 жыл бұрын
@@KayakCliff Yes, it is certainly congested. I have not paddled it either, but interested in doing so. There is a low head dam located at the HWY 121 interchange which would be dangerous especially at different flow levels.

Great video and thanks for posting. A point of clarification.....Grapevine Lake is just over 7,000 surface acres. Lake Lewisville is about 28,000 surface acres.

Thank you Mark for the clarification! Unfortunately I am not able to change the video at this point. Hope to see you out on the water sometime, safe paddling!

Wonderful video. I prefer river to lake paddling and never knew such a great place on the north end of Lake Grapevine. Keep the videos coming, please!
@KayakCliff6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments! Yes, when you look at all of our great lakes around here, just look for the feeder creeks that feed into each lake. Most of the creeks are great for kayaking up and down. On the map apps on your phone - just kind a look for those creeks and any parks or launch areas from satellite images that look like good launching points. You’ll be amazed at all the places you’re find! Next creek that I try will be from the Fort Worth nature Center to the damn at Eagle Mountain Lake. I hear that’s a great Creek/river to battle. About 10 miles round-trip.

Eager to hear your opinion of Ft Worth Nature Center. I have heard good things about it, but have not yet ventured there. I have heard of gator sightings there!

Nice video! I am purchasing my first kayak for kayaking in the Austin, San Marcos Tx area. I have been told that a 12' would be better than a smaller vessel. Looking to trail through similar creeks and rivers like the one you have posted here, with a few rapids here and there. What size kayak do you have and what length do you recommend?
@KayakCliff6 жыл бұрын
Gabe GM Hi Gabe - Generally, the longer and narrower the kayak - the more efficient it is for paddling. If the kayak is longer than 12’ , it can be more difficult to turn, but this is contingent on the hull design. Generally, 12 feet is a good do everything kayak. Since you are down in the Austin area. I would highly recommend stopping by Austin Canoe And Kayak - ACK.com. These people are very knowledgeable and can guide you in the selection of the best kayak for you. You can also try out kayaks at a local watering hole on certain days that they do this. Good luck and safe paddling!

Thanks for the detailed video Cliff! Picked up kayaking this summer as well and have already done quite a few local paddles. So far we've done The Brazos, Lake Lewisville, The Greenbelt Corridor and Caddo Lake. I believe this weekend we're going to try Denton Creek and next weekend we're going to conquer the Cross Timbers Trails up on Lake Texhoma. As an experienced North Texas Kayaker, are there any other spots you highly recommend within a reasonable drive? (Next summer we plan to do Frio and Big Bend).
@KayakCliff4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brett - I too would like to start exploring many of the Texas rivers (Frio, Llano, Devils, Brazos, Colorado etc). As far as North Texas is concerned, try out Lake Whitney - I will be releasing a video on that awesome lake later this week! Lot’s of lakes in North Texas!
