It's less about "protecting citizens" and more about obeying orders to repel browns from processing in the over-burdened and underfunded centers. Were it about "protecting citizens" the National Guard would patrol the streets to oppose American citizens because U.S.-born citizens are over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes, 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes, and over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes.
