A&M had a decent argument to get in over ohio st. In an eight team playoff the #9 & #10 schools have much less of an argument. Will there be upsets? Yep, it's college football. Maybe this has been addressed but would the SEC consider a realignment? As in, would teams move to the SEC East who are now in the West? Or would say Tx go to the West and the Sooners go to the East etc....??? During the last realignment TX and OK were looking at moving to the (then) Pac 10. If TX and OK move to the SEC that leaves the "Big 12" with 8 teams which essentially guts that conference. Then you just know the other conferences are going to want to add teams as well. They are has beens riding on the coat tails of historical greatness. Playing them only elevates them to a status in the state of Texas that they haven’t earned. I believe most Aggies would say “Damn Geography”. We want Alabama and would rather play them than play those 2nd rate ba5tards year in and year out. Alternatively to my suggestion, we could conversely let texas be the Tide’s whipping boys and play in their division every single year. A&M could then earn their way to an SEC playoff spot to play Bama for a natty if possible. Most Ags have no problem with OU. But screw texas. Not sure it’s Texas and Oklahoma’s job to protect cfb, it’s their job to make money and set themselves up to win. If they feel it’s in the SEC then they should leave? I usually agree with you, but I don’t like the argument that they should stay Bc it’s better for college cfb.

The Big 10 is a semi good idea, but I think you forgot that it snows in the Big 10 BIG TIME!! I don’t know that Texas and Oklahoma players want to play in the ice and snow for half the season. I’m sure that the Texas and Oklahoma weather is a part of their recruitment strategy against conferences like the Big 10 and ACC.
@JSchaffer2143 жыл бұрын
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Can Oklahoma win 10 games every year in the SEC like they did in the Big 12? Or, will playing against those SEC caliber defenses every week take it's toll on them? Will Texas finally breakthrough and separate themselves from the middle of the pack? Or, do they end up burying themselves even deeper?
@machtschnell74523 жыл бұрын
Both will improve but a conference champion may have a loss or two more consistently. When CFP goes to 12 teams, SEC should have 4-6 consistently . That is what matters ultimately, more revenue.
@Tobal53343 жыл бұрын
I don't think Texas expects special treatment. That feels really overblown at this point. They'd be joining programs that carry their weight in revenue. It was never about play on the field it's how can you keep up with teams from other conferences when your TV revenue is significantly less than other conferences.

The fact that the Longhorn Network exists proves the diva narrative valid. Now UT wants to share and share a like with SEC Network revenue proves how much hubris was involved in the creation of LOLHorns Network. The Big Ten needs to start sniping schools now, Im talking more USC and Oregon then Iowa St and Kansas. Kansas brings their basketball chops to the Big ten which would be amazing but doesn't help the football side. The Big ten also needs to relax their requirements to join the conference if they are trying to stay relevant. Remove AAU membership as a prerequisite cause word is they were going after Texas but weren't interested in the Sooners due to them not being an AAU member. I have zero faith Kevin Warren navigates any of this properly and the Big ten will suffer due to his poor leadership.

None of these really help for football, even if you could dislodged them. They could maybe revive the B1G-PAC12 alliance that fell apart late last decade (the 9/11/2021 Oregon-Ohio State matchup is a leftover of this, OSU originally had Georgia on the schedule). But, I still don't think it helps muc. At this point, I'm not worried about what the B1G does, my concern is how long Ohio State clings to the corpse.

Big12 and Big10 merge together to create THE super conference. Iowa and Iowa state rivalry, Nebraska and OU rivalry, OU /Texas rivalry stays intact and access to the bigger TV markets that the Big Ten enjoys, NY, NJ, Chicago, Ohio and Michigan, the DC beltway with Maryland. This is one point that needs to be made, when was the last time Alabama played a team as far north as OU at their stadium? In fact no SEC teams play any northern teams at their stadium after oct first. Why? Southern teams do not fare well in the cold. Even the pros when a warm weather team goes north in winter weather do not fare well. These SEC teams are loaded with kids that have never played in a game below freezing and it does matter the evidence is there. When it's snowing sideways and freezing in Norman on a Saturday night prime time game those Florida born players who have not practiced in that weather are going to let that get in their head and effect how they play. Why have indoor teams not won in playoffs in NFL without home field advantage?
