A monthly video series where I let 5 fans come out with their equipment and attempt to shoot a 10" gong at 1,000 yards in under 10 shots. If they hit it, they can use their remaining shots on the 5" gong. The 10" gong is worth 10 points and goes down 1 point after every shot. The 5" gong is worth 20 points and goes down 2 points after every shot. Once both are hit, the challenge is complete and each unfired round is an additional point. New episodes go live on the 1st Monday of every month!

The combination of long-range marksmanship and the thrill of competition is what keeps us coming back to the range. The setup with the 10" and 5" gongs adds an extra layer of difficulty and strategy to the challenge. It's not just about hitting the target but also about managing your shots effectively to maximize points.

Kind of just my observations, from watching every episode of this, but my best mate, who now lives in the USA, and is a freakish iron sights shooter, hitting out to 450 yards, without a spotter, 1000 in ten shots with one, agrees. If you have a mag fed rifle, in general, use the mag. You can stay on target, and just apply your corrections, without having to completely reset after every shot. Prime example in this episode- that is what the second shooter did. The contrast between him, and the first and third, couldn't be more obvious. Okay, Aaron almost belied that, with that awesome second shot hit, but his 1/2 MOA troubles showed it yet again........Of course TP sort of belies it, but he holds the rifle steady while reloading, doesn't let it drop, not at all. And he's a freak!
@Honezjr6 ай бұрын
The reason the first shooter doesn’t use his mag is probably because he’s seated his bullets out long in his handloads and they don’t fit in the mag. Obviously that choice has some serious downsides as you pointed out.
@circle7motorsports6 ай бұрын
I thought about that too
@avadheshmalik6 ай бұрын
I would agree. Letting go of the cheek weld everytime to reload does bring in more variables.
@marcusd32126 ай бұрын
@@Honezjryup this is exactly why he didn't use the mag. When hand loading cartridges sometimes you have to make the longer in overall length. Its depends on the freebore of the barrel and how it groups with different seating lengths. Also with a semi auto the action has the possibility of pushing the projectile into the case messing up his seating depth which changes his free bore. I just got into the habit of fast forwarding 10 seconds after each one of his shots 😂
@ronasaurus746 ай бұрын
@@HonezjrYeah, I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, that does introduce the problems I described, which would seem to outweigh the advantages of using such handloads....

I think he's pulls it like that bc his trigger weight is set so low he probably had a bunch of premature firing (when he first build the rifle) , so he rests his finger on the trigger guard as a point of reference, then brings it to the shoe. And it just became a habit that's my 2 cents.

Why? Less moving parts. Not that hard to remember your last impact and the wind is changing
@michaelvstheworld36806 ай бұрын
@TexasPlinking because it is more accurate. Ballistic reticles are nice, but there is a small flaw. The further you get away from the center and due to the curvature of the glass, your etchings become less accurate. Tony was a great example of what to do right. His first was high, but instead of holding low, he dialed it in like a pro and held on target. His second shot probably would have hit if not for a gust of wind. Now, his third shot, he probably held a little left of center which is how holdovers should be used. The guys who were many feet away from the target and trying to do holdovers is what drives me nuts. You have turrets for a reason. Use them first.
