Proud to be from the 409. Great Grandparents came to Port Neches and settled in “Little Abbeville”

I love music. I did vocals in a band and I sing around the house or whatever I am doing. I was a butcher for 35 and the guys on my crew at HEB in Waco would always asked me to sing a certain song just to see if I knew it. I usually did. I'm 63 and love all music except rap and I definitely love Zydeco.

My moms side of the family came from France in the 1700's. Her ancestor Sieur Pierre Rachal-St. Denis (1698-1756) was sent to establish a fort (Fort Natchitoches) to stop Spanish incursion into what was then French Louisiana. I'm very proud to be descended from that wonderful South Louisiana culture and people.

Wow! Learned to make his own accordians from scratch! Crafting his own parts. And plays it with joy. Love it.

I’ve been to Larry’s many times. Would go to eat with my husband to watch the dancers who ranged in age from 6 or 7 to 85 and older. I lived in Groves for 25 years.

I grew up down the street from Larry's, went to school in Port Neches. 1st generation Cajun-Texan. My family originates from Breaux Bridge, settled in Little Abbeyville. 🦞 Only good thing about SETX is what's left of Cajun culture, which is dying along with the old people. If you visit, lock your car doors & watch your back, especially in Beaumont & Port Arthur.

This was a delight to watch! I just now subscribed to this channel. :-) I lived in Dallas for 67 years and have been living in Querétaro, México, with my husband Jorge and our happy Golden Retriever Buddy for a little over a year now. Happy as larks! ¡Saludos! Jody Quillian

Creole means native born, was used by the Spaniards to separate themselves for other Mexicans and other Latino speaking peeps.

True, also "Latino" true meaning is a term to identify peoples of Latin language based countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, etc. Today (like a lot of words) it's misused to identify race in USA.

Our Indigenous Louisiana/Texas culture creole culture was stolen so that’s why it’s dying off!!! Zydeco was created by ATTAKAPA Indians!!! Black indigenous people of Louisiana and Texas!
