That was a pleasant ride. Austin looks like a nice place. Nice and clean! Stay safe people.

I live in a little backwater town in the UK and our road is busier than the centre of Austin, it seems. Looks like we aren’t really all that locked down at all. And your roads a way less potholed than ours in the UK. (Blinking Tory governments). I was out on my leccy-bike today - it’s fun dodging all the potholes and worn surfaces.

Hey thanks for showing me what Austin downtown looks like without 85% of the cars. We've been in Paris, France since July of 2019, planning to come back in early June. Paris locked down a bit before the USA did. I've only ventured out onto the streets once since lock down to buy some eggs. You have to print out a form, tick a box about the reason you are out, put a data and time and sign it. Kind of like a do-it-yourself hall pass. Over two hundred thousand fines have been levied against people out without a good reason or gathering in any groups. We have learned how to get groceries delivered but some of the delivery dates are way out. One order has been pushed back to a total of a month. I think the infection count in France is four times smaller than the USA, but I still am looking forward to being home.

You mentioned bike path. I take it there is a nice multi-use path that runs across the city ? We honeymooned to Texas in 2012 and visited along the way. Had a blast, but don't remember the bike path. I am in Colorado and we're pretty much totally locked down, technically by choice. No church, no groups. We're allowed to go to grocery stores, pot shops, liquor store, and outdoor exercise. Governor told us to stay local, but didn't define local so it's given trepidation for some. He mentioned Denver don't go two hours away to the mountains. So some people feel that local with within 2 hours, others feel it's strictly in your county, likewise some feel it's strictly your neighborhood. It depends on your interpretation of the governor. The way I'm viewing it is if we're allowing people to grocery shop, buy pot, and liquor then I'm definitely hiking, cycling, and mtb. So far I'm at 75 miles biking, and 40 miles hiking over the last three weeks. During my 8 mile hike yesterday never encountered one person. However, people who aren't into recreation are starting to blame people who recreate for spreading it. Also, the national forest trails were closed, but if you look at certain ranger districts they aren't, so it's confusing. For example, trails up outside of Denver are closed, but southern Colorado trails are open. Colorado State Park System is open, but picnic and visitor centers are closed. Just to clarify I believe Trump was trying not to create panic. I also feel like he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. If he closed borders sooner people would have criticized him, therefore he closes them later and people criticized he did it too late. There's a balance where you want people to be aware, but not induce panic etc. Thanks for the video!

@@TexasHighDef Thanks for the links. Always looking for new cycling trips. I can be in Austin in a day's drive. Before all this shutdown happened drove down to Amarillo. I was pleasantly surprised. Palo Duro Canyon State Park was scenic. The botanical garden was nice led to two ponds with a walking multi-use path. I believe there is adventure everywhere, along with POS. Don't have to rosecolor glass anything, but enjoy what a place offers. If you're ever looking for a MTB, cylcing areas that's not Boulder, CO Pueblo, CO isn't a bad spot. We have the Pueblo Historic Arkansas Riverwalk, Arkansas River, 40 miles of bike path/bike lanes, 40 miles of MTB at Lake Pueblo State Park. Plus the Wet Moutains just southwest of downtown Pueblo by 25 miles. southerncoloradotrailbuilders.org/

Thank you for sharing this. I live in Florida and have been thinking about moving to Austin or another city in Texas after I graduate from college.
