I had several standing trees that had been dead for years. I waited until the weather was like and slowly started burning them down. I had areas overgrown like this and I put hogs on them. The hogs opened it up and I used an excavator with a thumb to finish the job and pile logs up for burning. I enjoy your videos and I love seeing land cleared. Thanks

Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

This video is no doubt impressive. I own a CTL with mulch head for my ranch and have operated one for several years. Small trees and brush are my limit, big oak trees is another level. Way too many factors to be able to answer that. They charge about $200 an hour. If they are doing small brush and very small trees, they can get a lot done in a few hours. If they’re doing huge trees and mulching everything completely, then they will spend a lot more time on your property. But, around $200 an hour is the going rate I think. Most people will come out and do a free estimate if you can find someone in your area.

@loquat44-40
@loquat44-40 Жыл бұрын
@@BIGALTX Apparently it exists in a nearby county of Florida to me: ''My Oak Trees Are Dying! - Hypoxylon Canker A number of people in Walton County have had problems with oak trees on their property recently. Some trees have declined in health, others have died. Several factors contribute to this issue, and not every tree may be suffering from the same combination of things. One major culprit, however, is hypoxylon canker. Hypoxylon canker is caused by a fungus that is normally present only in the outer bark of oak trees, and usually doesn’t hurt them. When other sources of stress weaken the tree, however, the fungus can quickly take over and eventually kill it. Hypoxylon canker usually appears as pale patches on the trunk of the tree where the bark is missing. Unfortunately, once it becomes enough of a problem to be noticeable, there are no easy options to fix it. In fact, the fungus itself is almost always a secondary problem - it moves in when the tree is weakened from other factors. Instead of trying to treat the canker, it is better to prevent sources of stress that could lead to disease such as hypoxylon canker taking over. When planting trees to begin with, make sure to choose a suitable location that is not too close to other trees, gets plenty of sunlight, and is not either waterlogged or too dry. Owners of pastures in which animals such as cattle or horses graze should try to ensure that the soil around the tree does not become too compacted, by excluding animals from the area where most roots are present or by aerating the soil. Controlling moisture levels, if possible, can also help - too much or too little water for an extended period of time can cause stress. If a tree does succumb to the disease, it should be removed and the debris disposed of by burning to avoid spreading spores to other nearby plants.''

If the Fenceline is impregnated with barbed wire, or any other kind of fencing wire, they would not be able to do this. The wire would get wrapped around the cutting head, and it would be a nightmare to get it out.

Thank you for shining a light on the industry I am in. This video is very accurate in a lot of ways, especially returning nutrients back to the soil. A lot of people do not know what forestry mulching even is. That is a very skilled operator. I always love how clean it looks after mulching. So glad you made this video! Thanks!

I once considered setting a young friend up into his own business doing just this, but the ongoing machine maintenance costs made me think twice. Wicked expensive. I like how they switch cutter heads to resharpen cutter tines before they wear beyond being sharpened and need replacing. That one act alone probably saves them thousand$.

If I could find guys that would show up with two cimaf heads and mulch only with sharp cutters I’d hire them around the clock. That is the most honest customer service oriented contractor I’ve ever seen. Sharpening those knives only costs them money in hourly work.

Man I just want to be able to afford one mulcher lol must be nice to be able to have a spare one. I’d have to settle for having spare blades to swap out with a good impact and then sharpen blades when I got back to the shop so I could continue the cycle them out. It’s honestly how I used to run my lawn business. Carry good sharp blades and swap out when you feel necessary.

Great video. We have some land up in Nocona which is covered with small trees, brush, and invasive thorns which make clearing by hand nearly impossible. Hired a mulcher and he knocked out an acre in hours. Looks great and now I can get started fine tuning the property.

Pro Tip: You can teach a monkey too much in 15 minutes, the left joystick controls the track and the right controls the loader arm. The real issue is that typically customers end up wanting to do something with their land like plant crops/ garden, dig a well, dig a pond, or cut a foundation for a barn, shop, house, swimming pool or garage. Non of this can be accomplished without removing the root ball and horizontal root structure of the tree. It's just easier to bring in an a decent sized excavator and shove the trees over (which brings up the rootball). Then any of the hardwoods can be sold to a Mill to recoup customer money, rather than leaving it laying all over the ground.

Sure. This is not the way to clear land. If any type of excavation or plowing or planting will be done on the land afterwards.

Looks good short term. Next year all those samplings will grow back. The roots are still healthy and will come back even more dense unless sprayed.
@BIGALTX

I think I sprayed one time, and, of course, keep it mowed. That has pretty much discouraged almost all regrowth, except on the edge of the creek bank that I can’t get to with the mower. 99% of it is not coming back. But there’s always that little dab that will.

Years back, working as a developer, we used very large scale mulchers to clear acres in a single day. A large back hoe would come through and just knock trees over (even big one) and drag them into piles. The mulcher truck would then come behind and eat whole trees. We didn't need to buy ground cover at all - all our erosion control was chewed up trees!

The big machines, compared to the skid steers with heads on them, is that the big ones do not have to pause. They can still do masive work quickly compared to a chainsaw, winch, and grinder operation and do it safer though. They just fall in the gap between taking down tree plantations and arborists trimming trees. The main diference in getting the job done is time and saftey.
