As a young 🇨🇦 volunteer firefighter myself it kills me to having to put anyone in a body bag over a phone or alcohol. You only have one life and you don't always get a second chance. And the hardest part is having to tell the family. Don't value your phone more than your life. Make the best of your choices in life......and the police or nobody can make anyone stop texting and driving or drinking alcohol while driving. The choice is yours and make the best of your choices

Thanks for watching. Caitlynn's Mom made a powerful statement behind set pointing out that the phone is still fine to this day. No scratches, no damage. The phone can wait.

@levi bueckert i totally agree! While training with the folks in the town my grandma lived in and get grew up around my gramma and were in they're 40s and up at the time i had 3 major accident scenes they i helped respond to that caused me to lut that profession on pause for my mentality... Still love firefighting but still need the distance

Very sad. So many young people have died like her. Under most circumstances, texting and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving. We need to make the laws against texting and driving just (if not more) punitive than drinking and driving.

It's all about awareness and sometimes telling the hard stories like this one! Caitlynn's family is set out to save lives using her story as an example. We appreciate them bringing this project to light and hope it brings a little spotlight on how dangerous distracted driving can be.
@prettiestmills2.03 жыл бұрын
@@weareptx one of the worst distractions is alcohol. It can cause blurry vision, dizziness, swerving and inability to focus on your surroundings. Every 15 minutes, someone dies in a drunk driving accident. Up to 4 people dies in one single crash. I know this because high schools in the US makes videos about that every year to show juniors how dangerous it is. And they do because the problem is so big, especially in the United States. There are so many lives being taken too soon. I wish people would think more about their safety

I’m terribly sorry for the young woman who lost her life based on this story. Growing up my worries while driving were drunks, addicts, and channel hoppers with their radios. I still believe cars were safer back in the day as they say now as they were heavier, less complex / easier to repair, made of steel not plastic, and forgive me, but made in America by humans. What pride does a Robot have in its work? Moving along, we truly were less rushed, distracted, stressed, required to use our brain as we had no choice. Driving is a privilege, a responsibility to not only yourself, but to every other person on the road. Whether that person is young, old, foreign, chooses to drive / obey every traffic law to the “letter,” has a brand new Bentley, or a 30 year old jalopy. Respect everyone else on the road! Keep a special EYE out, and EAR out for MOTORCYCLES / BICYCLISTS!!! I am a retired 911 Dispatcher, I have 24 years of experience to my name. The year Illinois made texting, and driving illegal; I worked the New Year’s shift where my department’s officer wrote the first ticket in the state. If I recall it was approximately 3 minutes after midnight…

No amount of distraction is worth dying over, if the temptations are too great just put in the backseat or glove compartment

My nephew was killed texting and driving the people he was texting went looking for him because he stopped responding and they're the ones that found him. And to make a bad situation even worse the police didn't even notify my brother his father my brother saw it on the news in the morning and recognized the car

In the state of Georgia you can't talk on your phone with the phone held up to your ear anymore because when the state passed the no texting while driving law back in 2010 it was ineffective. You have to use speakerphone, bluetooth system in vehicle, smartwatch, or an earpiece. You can also use earbuds but only 1 can be used because if you have 2 in, you're not going to be able to hear surrounding traffic.

@@lauraturner3167 true. There’s still a small chance to save someone. Not 100% chance to bring them back to life but they always give it a try because there might be a hope that they’ll survive. Sadly, there aren’t many crashes that are able to survive from. Especially since a drunk driving car accident can cause up to 4 deaths

People don't have their priorities straight the phone has become the priority unfortunately. When you are behind the wheel your main priority is to focus on your driving and paying attention to your surroundings. People get your head's out of your a**es and get your priorities straight and these are the consequences what just happened in this video and it's definitely not a very happy ending. Case Closed. As a truck driver I see a lot of people while driving with the phone in their hand and I'm sick and tired of it, I blow my horn to get their attention and tell them to put down your damn phone and focus on the road.

Exactly. Apparently people that make choices to do bad things and get pay the price for it don't get to take the responsibility, not just with this either, but either I'm being a massive jerk or other people just can't handle what's likely the honest truth? Especially when it hurts other people as well.
