In this TouchDesigner tutorial, we're looking at how to use Replication and Texture Instancing to chop an input image into slices, chunks and different forms.
The input texture I'm using was created with MidJourney.

Hey Bileam, would I be able to sync this effect to an Ableton session BPM? For example, I want to sync this to a Beat Repeat instance where I can toggle between 1/8 note, 1/16 note etc and have the chunks to divide accordingly...what is the best method? I know we have the TDAbleton stuff but would the Ableton Link CHOP be better? I always have a hard time syncing timeline on TouchDesigner with Ableton and any insight would help.

Amazing tutorial thank you. So many powerful techniques explained in this one. I was wondering, I wanted to cut a random part of the image and send it to another program to process it and then back to touchdesigner. Your technique to select this random square is perfect, but how can I place it in the exact place it was?

Hey! I woul like to ask a question about this. It might be stupid. When I was instancing a video source, everything goes well until Texture3D CHOP. It seems like only the first several frame will be cached and being static. I want it to instance a video chunks instead of a static frame of it. Is it even possible! Thanks

So weird, I've added the pattern CHOP and seed it by its parent count CHOP (08:00), it keeps returning the same values as if its cycling - there is even a pattern noticeable that the same no. occurs 4/5 times consecutively before going to another random number. Any clues anyone. Great content as always, thanks!

Watched it twice now. I think you're referring to the 25:18 part where you add extra randomness. It still generates the same numbers when pressing one continuously - with one number standing out, even repeating itself for over a few times consecutively when pulsing. Which is extremely weird.
