Hello, Brady. Thanks a lot for the live way to create mattes without losing the possibility to edit original designs. This way, I can say bye bye to smart objects that increase the file size, a huge saver! I also wanted to help you out with your amazing work you're doing in your channel by telling you that the audio recording of this episode (and other episodes as well) has annoying whistling due to high frequencies that is very present (usually because of exciters and mastering), you can lower it a bit by "De-Essing" the audio in your regular editing program. I hope this doesn't bother you, I'm only telling you to make the content better and better.. giving back some of your generosity of sharing these valuable information. God bless you, and continue rocking KZbin!

I remember this distressed was really popular in PS around 2006. There was a really cool plugin that basically did what we were doing here but it was destructive. Folder nesting is the jam!

Hey Brady, I like how you build on each tutorial. Let me explain. The first few videos/ tutorials, at the bottom of the list, give us the viewers a behind the scenes base to start with. As you know there is really no one specific jumping off point. Regardless, you get us to to jump into the deep end while making the content accessible for those with at least some understanding of Photoshop. This particular tutorial definitely opens up a whole new tool box of opportunities and possibilities. You have created your own multi universe. I am looking forward to implementing these new techniques into my work flow, designs, and projects. Thank-you Side note happy to be the 69th reply. bit of in yin and yang going on.

Sure, could be a good spot for em... for a single live text duplicate, I prefer to keep it local to avoid that whole back and forth thing. but... for sure!

Another great video - I'm steadily working my way through your back-catalogue! Have you ever tried using knockout layers as a mask alternative? I started doing so recently and have found them to be hugely useful.
@Texturelabs3 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I'll give the knockout layers another shot. I messed around with those a while back... knew they'd be useful for something but couldn't quite figure out what!
@TPToE3 жыл бұрын
@@Texturelabs Generally people seem to use knockout layers for text effects etc. but the real beauty of them as far as I'm concerned is as an alternative to masks. Put whatever you want masking in a group and add a new layer above in the same folder, setting the fill opacity to 0% and the knockout to shallow in the layer style blending options. You can then repeat the process ad infinitum, creating as many knockout mask layers as you like (all of which can, of course, have actual masks applied in turn) and no clipping is required. You probably know all this already, but I'm so very grateful for your inspired tutorials that I thought I'd share this just in case it proved useful!
@yuribolognini2 жыл бұрын
@@Texturelabs I use them all the time at work along with smart vector layers embedded, this way I can make a design where the logo can be knowck out of a layer but still be easy so resize and move around, the only alternative I know would be using masks but masks can't be smart (you cant blur a mask without being destructive, and this way you can have editable text also being knocked off the shape).... I import all text from illustrator in smart layer.. then I dont need to convert to outlines and can keep editable text, then I can apply fx and filters to it and use the final result to cut/knockout layers and keep everything live and non destructive. Thanks for all your videos, You are a true master!

The method for colouring is a pain - any soft/anti-aliased edges still show the white layer underneath, e.g. there's a bit of an outline around the edges of that blue drop shadow. You can manually paint areas of colour but that's only easy if things aren't overlapping or touching each other.

Hola muy buen video, la sombra azul al querer conectarla con las demas, no se aplican las texturas, solo desaparece
@altaieuseawalker33572 жыл бұрын
As soon i touch the "This Layer Sliders" in the Blending Options at 03:52 the Text turns to it's set text color and the texture inside the text disappears. Solved: Just found out the cause of this. It seems the blending option preview is not working correctly. After applying the values the results are like shown in the video.
