I love Teyana (and Ciara) and I also love that they’re both wearing Afro textured hair in their videos (Ciara In Rooted), but I hope our Afros can also be appreciated in videos other than protests, and pro-black imagery. I’d love to see a more sensual music video with women w/ Afros...they’re appropriate at all times, not just when it’s time to protest. There’s power in the Afro, but it doesn’t stop there. There’s also love, sensuality, femininity, grace, and poise in it as well.

I think some people are interpreting her intentions wrong, which is why they deem it as disrespectful. She is a black woman she knows their pain, what I think she was depicting is that she can feel their pain. And the pain that every black person feels. We are them. We are every victim of police brutality, white supremacy etc.. their blood runs through us their melanin that ran through their skin that got their life took is the same melanin coursing through us . She did a very wonderful job. And as a black woman living in America she had a duty to speak up! And she executed it well!

I couldn’t stop crying the entire video. I pray every day that my black friends and black family make it home. I hope every day that they don’t get pulled over out of fear they won’t make it. I pray for every black person out there because no one deserves to be treated and hunted like this. Thank you Tey. #BlackLivesMatter

@@anemonenumberone Not gonna go on and on about something as simple as shades of blackness. Light skin, brown skin, chocolate, etc. All still considered black. You said she's light skin when someone wasn't even talking about the many different shades we are. She was referring to her as a black woman not the actual skin color but you have a nice day and God bless you. Just my opinion ... End of discussion. One love 😎✊🏾🖤❗

I'm not gonna lie, I cried while watching this. Like, this is our people. This is us. We are them. We could wake up tomorrow and be the next product of hate and injustice. How can you breathe on earth and feel the need to take away that right from someone else just cuz they're a different hue. If I can donate an organ to you, if I can give you my blood, then tell me why can't I receive equality.
