Detail: tried the RCA ins for outboard gear, was not having signal; only RCA out works for this task, if you wish to have your gear going back to the Q-24, you should use the XLR/TRS connectors in the front, but for sending signal to the analog gear you can use the RCA outs, at least worked with an Alesis 3630.

Sorry for the late answer, it is recommended to use this interface with ASIO4ALL generic software for usage with DAWs, only not if using Linux. Not being with DAW usage it already has built-in drivers.

I was surprised positively about it. I merged one UR22 + this interface for analog usage through RCA outs. Detail: worked nicely, but I never recommend to do, because it's not practical and ASIO4ALL should be used for this about Windows systems. I recommend one Behringer UMC404HD, but if analog outboard gear like audio compressor won't be used, Q24 is really good. Detail: I believe all stores are ok, but I don't know if all Q24 are the same, even thinking so.

Hey, I bought this and with the same position of knobs I get -45db white noise, which is very bad... I'm unlucky, probably not possible to fix it. Idk if I got a faulty piece or some fake one.

omg right after this comment I swapped usb port in my computer. It used to be in the front panel and now I plugged it directly to motherboard. Effect is now from -45db I got to -60db at max preams. Still far from your result but now it's actually usable because I don't use full gain knobs, so I take it to -70-75db with reducing gain. I swear I already was trying using other devices but didn't notice any difference. Still wish I could achieve your result. Any tips?

ok sorry again... it seems the change is caused because the volume in my windows settings was set to 100 and after I changed usb ports it reset to 60. What's interesting -- I cannot notice the volume of voice getting significantly quieter but the noise level is much lower, so it's good. Now I don't know -- should I try using 40-50 volume in windows and that's it? How it works for you? Or do I install some drivers for this device for it to work better?

@@semogeng-master sorry for typing too much in general haha. I want to clear out the noise isn't some interference with other devices, it's not static. It's very clear and smooth noise of the q-24 only, it's just too loud. Currently I have less noise with my usb mic than xlr... (-60db for usb @100gain, -45 for xlr @100). I will contact the seller in AliExpress, maybe they help? Thanks for your answer and if you have any idea what might be wrong let me know.

Hi, I would want to know if the Spectrum Meter is accurate? I tried importing a wav recorded file with -1 peak in Adobe Audition and when I imported it on Studio One 5 and opened Spectrum Meter it only shows the peak at -24. Why is it?
@semogeng-master
@semogeng-master 2 жыл бұрын
this question is really important/interesting, some meters have different metrics. Example: the DAWs Ardour and Mixbus can have K14 metering looking another view about sound pressure, different from the normal views we tend to use. This Spectrum meter I never did a research about, but used for an approach about noise levels, also for comparing interfaces. In my opinion should be because the frequencies shown are just about the tonal balance, while together they can give more about pressure, but I can be wrong, I don't use it so much, just used some times. If I have more accurate info I reply back again. About metering some good options I know are: LEVELS by Mastering the Mix, Expose v2 (standalone app) by the same brand and Waves WLM.

the knob "input-mix-daw", does it really work? can we "turn off" sound from the input and only hear sound from the daw? (and vice versa)
@semogeng-master
@semogeng-master 2 жыл бұрын
DAW is output, so 100% DAW weak or inexistent signal to inputs; 100% input signal to input, not for output, but you'll need at least some output gain for inputs usage too, so 100% left is not a solution, neither 100% right; Even if you use like me, the gain at 3rd dot, you'll not perceive input depending of the situation, like feedback, since the signal is weak for that I believe and also if you turn on rec or not makes the difference and you should turn on rec to record sure.
@laptoppakdosen3958
@laptoppakdosen3958 2 жыл бұрын
@@semogeng-master I am confused with your explanation. Let me put it another way... In Behringer UMC204HD for example, there is a similar "mix knob" and it really works (to choose a proportion of mix between playback and input). We can turn the direct monitoring off with this knob by turning it all the way to the playback side. The opposite also apply. Of course the signal strength from the input side is affected by the gain, but this knob in UMC204HD really works. now this Teyun Q24 also has a knob like that, but I doubt if it is really functioning properly. Does it work like UMC204HD above?

can you turn off direct monitor when recording?
@semogeng-master
@semogeng-master 2 жыл бұрын
By direct monitoring you mean when the sound feedbacks with the signal appearing clearly? When I do the recordings using the Alesis 3630 I have some feedback, so I always create a fake output called sub without assingments, so the signal is never being about feedback. The only buttons it has about features are Hi-Z for instruments that need high impedance, mono for turning recordings in mono with merging L and R, loopback that I believe that aligns sound to the DAW as I know, but never used this feature yet.

Plug a good USB cable from interface to the laptop (one like printer cable), I also recommend ferrite chokes, at least 1 fixed to the cable (but you can use without it, is just for avoid some possible interferences) and will be enough. This unit does not need drivers to be installed, all is built-in and ready to use; About TRS (balanced) signal in the back, the golden ones: use balanced cables for your monitors if they accept and for analog gear, if like me you use, use the RCA outputs to the inputs of the gear. The output of the analog gear should be linked via a TS cable to the inputs of Teyun Q-24. I recommend TS because RCA output are by definition unbalanced, but perhaps the input could be nice with TRS, I prefer to use TS. The first knob from right to left is for headphones; the second the output and the 3rd called Input-Mix-DAW if 100% left won't generate normal sound, but very quiet one, if you bring it up a little should send sound to the outputs and possibily phones; so you can use the output when your input is setted not 100% left (becareful with loud levels and do the tweaks slowly and carefully, don't just turn up the knob, slowly increase and test). Hi-Z is for instruments that need this high impedance thing and mono pressed, even using one single microphone the signal will be merged into mono. Loopback I don't use, so can't say about it. For headphones you'll need one with TRS connection or using one TRS adapter to the 3.5mm TRS.

@@tambayannidanfox6689 ferrite choke is a core with ferrite about it (a material) that you close on cables to tame some interferences, like the fat rounded rings around HDMI cables, those are ferrite chokes.

@@tambayannidanfox6689 this interface does not need any driver, just plug and use it about your computer; about the explanation I did for analog gear, if you don't use analog gear you can bypass it. For balanced TRS cables, they're the large pins with 2 rings normally in black = balanced, you plug it in the main outs with golden color and in the inputs of your monitors if the monitors have them. Some monitors are RCA based only, so you'll have to use adapters or a unbalanced TS to RCA cable (1 ring instead of 2).

I don't know if the stereo setup about microphones will be invalidated if your DAW is setted to mono signal for the output, would have to try. If you record with 2 microphones (stereo) without the mono button pressed (this mono button is for sending to mono, not for hearing to mono), you'll have to see if your DAW at mono will also after you deselecting mono have 2 signals or 1.

Where did you check the info? Your PC is so much about plugged USB devices? Very old? Good state? Which PSU? All is energy, if one single flow about energy is not plenty will generate problems as I know, and I can be wrong but USBs can differ... already did a test: laptop x desktop. The laptop incredibily was giving less noise than the desktop, and was the UR22, not Teyun. But decided to use the desktop. Try ferrite chokes. About drivers is correct: HD II, but some DAWs can ask for ASIO4ALL for it work properly, some will work with Windows Audio or ASIO4ALL, MME or another form. Also see about cables management and check the USB-B x USB-A cable.
