The thing about the Borg not being able to innovate is that it was a retcon in Voyager, as stated in Q Who (TNG) also contradicted in Voyager when 7 talks about the Borg doing research on the Omega particle (VOY: Omega)

The Borg Coopetative is the best faction. They retained their connection with each other, but to the extent that they did not destroy their personalities. Perfectly balanced. They combine all the advantages and possibilities of individuality - while overcoming one of the main obstacles - the semantic barrier. (Borg, by the way, could not do this). Plant this seed in fertile soil and a truly perfect civilization will come out of it. A force that could unite even the Collective and Undine.

No - they are completely different. The similarity is actually only in a number of methods used. But these groups have completely different worldviews. (Except perhaps the Mondassian Cybermen, and then barely)

3 decent movies and a whole bunch of arguing vs multiple great season spanning seasons, im just saying theres a reason we get a new star trek series every few years but everything new star wars related breaks the fans and coasts on being star wars
