TF2 Classic's Randomizer is Insane

Randomizer is theoretically pretty simple. You get a random set of weapons at the beginning of each life that function as you'd expect. But TF2 Classic's version is... special. On top of the weapons themselves being randomly picked, the stats they have are also up to chance. Between bullet weapons being able to fire rockets, firing speed having basically no cap, and the fact that you don't know what anything does until you kill with it or die from it, this mode is absolutely bonkers. Also, the Civilian has the objectively funniest A-pose in the game and I refuse to acknowledge anyone who says otherwise.
This is TF2 CLASSIC, a modded version of TF2 that requires a separate installation. If you want to play it yourself, you can download it from their website, which is a Google search away.

I'm not becoming a TF2 Classic channel, I promise. I accidentally recorded for like 3 hours on release night because the game was so fun, so I decided to just split the footage into 2 videos because most of it was on randomizer. I'll probably try out the custom weapon server soon since it looks like fun, but other than that I'll probably just stream this game from then on.

This entire gamemode is so chaotic you can have a minigun with 700 ammo that fires rockets that also heal you when you shoot yourself with them.

@@Kadeo64 I think they're referring to the extra care taken to make sure that weapons actually use those animations instead of using animations for weapons that already belong to your class, like how the Syringe Gun on Heavy in live Randomizer gets all fucked up because it uses Fist anims.

@@lord_razur it doesn't take that much effort due to the v_models system (the one left 4 dead 2 uses so all survivor arms use the same animations on all the guns) but yeah they did go out of their way to code it to work like that

I'm seeing this get some attention lately so I'm coming back to say, essentially, every class has unique hand models. The bones on the hand models are then contorted to the animation of the weapons. It's how the game's "no hands" setting works, since it just removes the hand models and shows the weapons exclusively

TF2 classic randomizer is customizable with config files and console commands, so it's fully up to the server admins about how they set it up. You can make it pretty tame or you can make it the 9th circle of hell

In TF2 Classic, there are burn death animations for each mercenary. Also, in Randomizer, in addition to the weapons that are officially used in the game from TF2 Classic, there seem to be custom weapons taken from the Workshop.

I managed to get probably the most OP loadout I've ever seen in this randomiser, I was a pyro with a hitscan sticky launcher that did 100 damage per hit, crits on kill and health regen with 400+ health.

I once got an engineer with 900 health, health regen, and an axe that only did crit damage. He also ran at 3 times the normal speed. I managed to get over 25 kills before being flanked and gunned down.

FYI: The projectile doesn't change the weapon's damage. A minigun still does 3-10 damage per rocket (it's just AOE instead of having to directly hit people). Same with a shotgun that shoots syringes. Each syringe would do about 60 damage. However, flare projectiles still crit when you’re burning. So if a weapon did 10 damage per shot (like the syringe gun), and they shot you with flares, that’s basically 30 damage per shot.

The animations can't be fixed in normal TF2, or they would have done it already. The programmers of these randomizer plugins tried many times, but since the arm and weapon models are rendered clientside there's not too much they can do to change them. TF2C, being a standalone mod that doesn't have to work within the constraints of the normal game, can do whatever it wants.

I played this yesterday on Hoodoo and I ended up with a Minigun that never ran out of ammo and which got crits on kill, plus someone with a Kritz that healed me super quick and also built Kritz really quick. Needless to say, the enemy team couldn't get out of spawn that entire round and I got like 60 points out of spawncamping alone.

I had the most broken combo ever just recently on randomizer. I could build buildings as an engineer, but sentry gun has 4000+ health, i didn't want to count how much exactly. RPG which gets kritz after kill Medigun with uber that lasts 60 seconds and a bottle with slow swing speed, which i also got a kill with Total K/D on upward 55/0 They couldn't cap the first checkpoint
