Oh definitely. I play engineer on ctf because I’m just that guy, and I build an entire base in the vents on turbine just as a distraction to get everyone to come deal with the one random annoying engineer. Sometimes, if I’m not distracting enough, I’ll drop a tele from spawn to enemy vents, behind my nest, to force them to deal with me, or just let my team funnel straight from our spawn to theirs.

The problem is that they can't forget you exist because, by simply existing, you are a threat. They don't know your entire purpose is to just exist somewhere. However, if they just ignore you, they become free kills. So do they go after to try and remove the potential threat or ignore it and just hope it does run up behind them and shove that force of nature right up their ass.

True, but you gotta admit, when there's more than a single player chasing a scout, sure, they are more likely to kill him, but they also are ignoring the larger threat which is the rest of his team. 2 or 3 people leaving the frontlines to chasing a scout back in their spawn means leaving their team vulnerable for a big push.

This sums it up perfectly. Thinking that people are "sTuPEeEDd111!!11" because they don't want to get spawn killed or don't want their Team-mates to be spawned killed is the real stupidity. This isn't a competitive team, there will only be 3 players communicating with microphones, there is a good chance all the players on the team don't even speak the same language. And you CANNOT rely on other players in casual. If you could you wouldn't see 3 spys/snipers in every match.

To be fair, not going after a Scunt means you now have an enemy in your back lines that keeps doing chip damage to you and disrupting the flow of battle. It's a similar tactic that paratroopers are trained for, in that they cause situations where the enemy has to choose between an effective assault or a stable backline.

I personally enjoy distraction medic, basically quick fix and overdose. Much less effective in terms of killing anything, much more eye catching and also pretty damm speedy. Makes up for the lack of an immediate defensive option with a potential uber pop to survive, and the passive hp regen.

This is really fun with the baby face’s blaster surprisingly However it kinda forces you to trade off the second (and third if using atomizer) jump for faster speed during the bonk effects Great for long payload maps where even scout’s normal speed wont work, and you won’t lose your boost as long as you don’t do a mid aid jump

back in the long long time of early TF2 when we were sad and hatless, I once found myself in a lock. Red was holding great while we on blue couldn't push past a bottleneck on Frontier. There I had the idea for the first time. Go spy, get past the enemie spawn and take hotshots at them with the revolver. Super long distance. It took me a few tries, but then I managed to pull half the enemie team all the way back into the map. With one player missing on my team and half the players missing on theirs, the push worked and we got to the next stage of the map. good old times

Back in the day, around 2011-2014, I used to do something like this with soldier. I would just rocket jump into the back line, find a nice house with health and ammo, and just live there for as long as I could. If people chased me, I protected my property. If no one chased me, I made them chase me. My favourite house was dustbowl second stage's first point house. When the enemy capped first point and went to second, I would just break through, rocket jump to first point, and live there for as long as I could. I did this with pyro too, but mostly soldier. Man good times.

Funny Story: On the final point of Dustbowl (I think) I was trying to distract the enemy team by running into them, ran into a Pyro-Med combo. Fell down the bridge, climbed the stairs, and ran to the cap, “Surely they’ll notice me now right?” Nope! No one even BOTHERS to shoot me, a Pyro ran into the cap, killed him, and accidentally won the game by capping, as Scout, and I’m pretty sure there was at least one person there.
