I do agree with you that the "wholesome chungus TF2 based anything else bad" mentality is awful, A lot of people do. I also agree with your segment on the sheer amount of boredom we have. but it's just two things in particular that I just disagree with. "move on" Where though? Where is a game that has such great weapon design, visual design, and isn't competitive battlepass slop? TF2 is one of a kind (timeless if you will), that's the only reason it still has its players. there is no way in hell that something like rocket jumping or market gardening would exist in a post-COD industry. or even most of the weapons in the game. let alone a character like Spy. is it really that selfish to ask Valve to fix TF2? especially since they are still actively "supporting" the game by pumping microtransactions into 3 times a year? PS: TF2 Reddit and Especially Twitter don't represent most of the players, they mainly consist of people who just watch from the sidelines. kinda like Sonic the Hedgehog.

I kinda agree with some of the points he made, I used to have a terrible experience when I was new to the game because of the community, now at 1.7k hours, I decided to come back to it and see what's up, since I main spy, people automatically started treating me like crap whenever I failed a trickstab because people are more aware now than before. What's worse is when people say the tf2 community is the friendliest when I had friendlier experiences playing League of Legends. For the "move on" part, I agree that there is no character like Spy or mechanics like market gardening in other games, but in my opinion, playing the same game for a long time starts to get boring after a while. I'd recommend the Yakuza series or indie games if you want to try sometime.
@OfficerIDPD5 ай бұрын
Where, you ask? Bioshock 2's multiplayer has great gameplay, theres a lot of strategizing to be had on what plasmids, weapons, and weapon upgrades to use. Official servers dont really work, as Bioshock 2 is almost as old as TF2, but there are many small pocket communities that run their own private matches on private servers. Cheaters are not really an issue since you can just isolate them and prevent them from joining your game due to how the private servers are run. If you know anything about Bioshock 1 and 2 im sure I dont have to tell you that visual design is stunning and is not even that far off from TF2. The characters you can play as all have the same hp, and the only difference is their voice lines, but they are also very charismatic each with distinct personalities and backstories. if you liked the engineer I recommend playing as the welder, Jacob Norris. I played a couple rounds after I got bored of TF2 and it was honestly refreshing, I can only recommend it.

Honestly, I wish I could just play a different game, but none of the available PvP shooters really scratch the same itch as TF2. Because no one would host on community servers that quite literally have slightly better anticheat than VAC, even if you would use lmaobox's SMAC bypass they would be manually banned in less than 3 hours atleast
@joketrain5 ай бұрын
Is this how illiterate TF2 fans have gotten about their own game? Community server anti-cheat plugins can only counter cheating, they are mostly powerless against bots that don't cheat but still do everything they can to disrupt the game, which are plentiful, and a successful attempt to remove all cheating bots would only result in the vast majority of them turning into non-cheating bots that aren't necessarily any less disruptive. Another issue is that such anti-cheats fundamentally operate differently from VAC, which doesn't make any attempts to discern the effects of cheating, but merely the means by which they are enacted upon the game (memory injection, that is), whereas what community servers have just analyze what you're doing and then just bans you if it thinks you did something that exceeds an arbitrary threshold for what is considered cheating, which leaves the gate wide open for false positives. Another thing is that bots in many cases aren't actually automatically removed from servers but instead end up being banned manually by a moderator, which is another thing that Casual doesn't have. Of course you could introduce moderators, but that would have far wider consequences than affecting bots and cheaters and would take away the main thing separating Casual from community servers, which is the lack of moderation. Casual is complete garbage anyway so the real question is why don't people just play on Community servers? If the answer to that is that all of them are bad... then I suggest perhaps making that the focus of your next movement.

Welp, if TF2 will enter under investigation because of said things, Valve will surely have wished they fixed this issue sooner. TF2 was designed in a very careful and specific way to make the gameplay enjoyable (for example timeless art style with team recognition, iconic 9 classes). There's only 9 classes but that's enough for the player cause each one of them has their individual personality which is crucial element in making bond and immersion for player. While new games like overwatch has 20+ characters which i personally haven't felt that immersion. In Overwatch to change the gameplay like making it something different you need a new character with new abilities while in TF2 you still got 9 classes but you keep adding more weapons to their arsenal which is even better and easier than making whole new character with almost no flavour in their personality. Also the competition in TF2 is basically more wacky and fun than in Overwatch and other newly made shooter games. That is why people still love TF2 and that's also why TF2 is very well made timeless masterpiece.

Lots of my friends have talked so much about these same things over and over for years at this point. We honestly hate the vocal TF2 community which makes the same reddit slop time and time again without any real content. Only maybe one or two good things are made from the community every year if that. Our group still plays and loves TF2, but we have distanced ourselves from that side besides some trolling people do on r/tf2 or whatever. I think if the game can be separated it can be really enjoy just for its richness as a game. I don't think, like many people, another game as great as TF2 will come out and that's okay. This community just needs to stop making complete slop and then it would be way less brain rot as it is right now
@noko37775 ай бұрын
so you aren't allowed to love games anymore? It speaks volumes that TF2 is able to keep a giant fanbase despite its age, while other life service titles die of. For being such a loyal fanbase and sticking to a fun as fuck game, we would expect Valve to do something for us. Right now, shitting on TF2 seems so funny because its a "dead game", but thats only because we are at our probably lowest point in TF2s lifespan and its so unfair to point to us and make fun of us for wanting change.

I will agree with you on the Us vs Them being annoying. I played the shit out of TF2 and Overwatch equally, back when TF2 was still playable and Overwatch wasn’t Overwatch 2 mind you. I loved the games for different reasons. One let me be an absolute dumbass and the other let me be a super hero soldier. Those were fun! And it was frankly annoying seeing one community I was apart of constantly bash another community I was apart of. Overwatch 1 was amazing, and I hate the fact that people don’t see that. Also, yeah the meme pool has definitely started tasting samey. Some of the memes I don’t even get the joke of. What is the punchline to “Engineer gaming”? I don’t know. However, I stand firm on Fix TF2. If you constantly monetize something, you should be responsible for the upkeep on it. Otherwise stop monetizing it and just shut it down. That’s why I’m in the movement, cause I have nothing to lose if it fails. Either we win and something gets done, or we fail and the game is put out of it’s misery. I’d be weirdly okay with either, but I hate seeing it shamble on like a zombie. If that makes sense.

Instead of just saying “Video bad, you suck, cope and seethe” I’m gonna give you an actual critique. Good points - You’re right that a lot of TF2 fans seem to have a superiority complex against other FPS like Overwatch, Valorant, Apex Legends, etc. And while I do believe TF2 does a lot of things better than these games, the people who say “TF2 better than ____” or “TF2 killed ____” are just saying nothing. - 5:30 I get being annoyed that everyone seems to talk about the same weapon 100x over. I’m pretty bored of it too and can see it as lazy content. HOWEVER* - 8:58: It’s true that the bot issue is probably gonna be harder than people are taking it for. Especially with the source spaghetti slop that is TF2’s code. Bad Points - 0:09: “It’s a great game.” 0:25: “Community of degenerates that continues to play this game.” You quite literally contradict yourself within not even the first half minute of the video. Call it nitpicking, but saying the game is good then complaining about how people continue to play it is incredibly idiotic. - 1:18: Why does this matter? So what people only play a handful of classes? It’s not a crime to play the game how you want. - You seem to act like Reddit and Twitter are the entire TF2 community in a nutshell. There are a major chunk within (More than the actual true player count), some people just want to play the game. - 2:30: This is just insulting people for no reason. Why tf does it matter what a person’s voice sounds like? The only thing this really contributes to is just making you look like the degenerate you’re calling the fanbase. It makes even less sense when you show Lazypurple and Shounic as good examples (7:49) despite them having that similar “Pasty High-pitched 20s something white person voice” you dunked on like 10 people 5 minutes ago. - 3:42: You’re being mad at people actually caring about the game. And it’s not about the number of cosmetics. There are indeed clearly enough. The problem is that the ones that are added aren’t of good quality. You literally say at 11:00 that they’re “below mediocre”. It’s like a streaming service publishing new sh#tty shows when they clearly have enough. No need to complain about people wanting quality products. Especially since you pay for these items with real money. - 3:59: You act like this is the singular reason for people liking the Summer Update. People liked the Summer Update because 1. It was in response to the SaveTF2 as it wasn’t just a bare bones tweet from Valve, but also a blog post beforehand telling creators to prepare for it. (Something they didn’t do before). Which leads to 2. The quality of the additions within the update. You even said this yourself: “a decent enough update compared to the garbage they usually shove out” (3:36). Not only that, but also broke the player record. (Which has sadly been proving to be bots, but it boosted player morale at the time) And 3. It looked like a step in the right direction. That Valve was actually going to pay more attention and commit more to TF2. It was baby steps, but given enough time, it seemed the future was looking bright. And yet you said that “nothing happened”. (8:50) - *It’s not inherently a bad thing to have multiple videos on the same weapon. People have different opinions and that’s why people make videos on it. If there was only one video on that weapon, then there’s less room to really discuss varying thoughts on it. But it does get annoying when people just talk about it with not much else going for it. - 6:50: Again, WHO THE F#CK cares about what’s on reddit. It’s FREAKING REDDIT for God’s sake. - 8:09: These are just clipdumps on the game. Literally every game that has ever been on youtube has these. This has been going on since youtube’s creation. It’s people having fun and making cringe funny jokes with their friends. You even participated in shenanigans like this as shown from your screenshots at the start of the video. (Bumper-cart racing, bald engineers, stacking soldiers) - 9:27: It’s not about shouting at the little development team TF2 has. It’s about confronting Valve, the publisher and owner of the game. Who despite being a billion dollar company that has become a king and staple of the gaming industry, refuses to solve any of the problems that has been plaqueing TF2 for nearly 8 f#cking years. - 9:35: What sets FixTF2 from SaveTF2 is the approach. Back in 2022, the community didn’t want to seem like a bunch of angry soyboys that were dunking on a beloved game company. I mean it could be seen as a miracle that Valve even updated a game so old. So SaveTF2 was more of a demonstration on why TF2 should be saved. How deeply loved and cherished the game was and why Valve should take time to fix it. And all we really got was a pat on the back, a promise, and a decent summer update. But after nearly an entire year with the bot crisis getting worse and seemingly nothing changing, the community decided they needed a more “direct” approach. Valve continued to profit off of TF2 despite barely fixing any of the problems. And with the problems facing some of Valve’s newer games, such as CS2, the company is starting to get flak from people outside the TF2 community. Which is why we began boycotting cosmetics and reviewbombing the game. And we have seen success with the recent Helldivers 2 fiasco so there is proof that this can work. The plan for FixTF2 is to not back down until Valve truly does something. - 10:16: Deadlock hasn’t even been announced yet. Who knows if it’ll even be greenlit, especially with the leak. - 11:15: What exactly do you mean “both sides”? This ain’t even a criticism, I’m just confused on what the sides there are. Overall, this video does make some good points that should be listened to too. This community has its flaws, some you’ve shown.But you repeatedly undermine and contradict yourself throughout the video.

@Shock-N-Awe5 ай бұрын
@@pelhami 1) Fair 2) okay 3) He acts like the entire community is simply reddit and twitter 4) I don't see which part that supposedly is supposed to represent aristole's method of debate, I doubt he based a rant off it, and "funny" as it is, mindlessly dunking on people for such a stupid reason is no way to get any point across. (And for someone calling others plebian and using ancient methodology, you seem to barely give any other points besides "not a coherent argument") 5) I think people caring about if they're getting good products they need to pay for is a very valid argument 6) Fair on the development thing, however it was still around the time which is why people were hyped. Also my points on the quality(which I cited him saying was decent) and that seeming to be a step in the right direction I say are valid. 7) It's less to be an argument against him but rather an commentary on what he said about there being multiple videos on the same thing. I'm saying that by itself is fine, it's that most of these videos say the same thing with little changes, which is why I understand where's he's coming from. 8) He acts like the entire community is simply reddit and twitter 9) You keep saying it's on "the community". yet the point he makes here can apply to basically any community. If you search up gameplay for games like Minecraft, Fortnite, Valorant, Overwatch, CSGO, and the sort, you'll find similar clips. While you can make the argument that the video is on the community and only that, it makes the point he tries to make feel incoherent. And even them, his examples are weak. It's not like any of them are slaying slurs or being creepy in those clips. (Which would have supported his argument better if he had shown those parts) 10) I think wanting a billion dollar company to do something about a broken product they continue to profit off of is pretty reasonable. 11) okay 12) It also may be hella despised due to how well-known and loved TF2 is and seeing Valve just focus on a different shooter will probably ignite a huge uproar, possibly causing the game to fail. (Not in defense, this isn't a good outcome for anyone. But it does seem like a likely possibility) 13) Yeah, but he doesn't really makes sense. He doesn't seem to talk from the perspective of other shooter fans overall, you keep saying "not a coherent argument" but you never explain how, make your argument noncoherent in the process. There are point he makes that are entirely valid, but he overshadows them by continuously contradicting himself to fit what he's saying, and just wanton insulting people for arbitrary reason. No one's gonna listen to you if you don't keep a stable pov and insult them the whole time. But you did make a few good counterpoints, so 4/10 for you as well.

I don't think it's entitlement to want Valve to perform maintenance and upkeep on a videogame that they currently harvest a healthy profit from. A product shouldn't be profitable if it ceases its intended function due to a lack of maintenance. Valve still develops new hat crates and other things every several months that draw a profit in from the game, so its their responsibility to make sure these products and the environment they work in is functional and isn't being tampered with by bot hosters. I'm saying this as someone who plays TF2 seldomly at this point and is knee deep in a plethora of other indie games, multiplayer games, a few larger releases, and everything in between (my current focal point is a mix of Helldivers 2, modded minecraft, Deep Rock Galactic, and 9 Bit Armies). 10:18 Team Fortress 2's ongoing domination by bot hosters is a security implication for Valve's other products. They've introduced a very easy target for bot hosters and hackers to tamper with the product and render it essentially non-functional, and hackers and bot hosters who are eager for their next big fish might start looking to Valve's newer products and properties. CS 2 is already swarming with cheaters (though not necessarily fully automated bots), for instance. It would be unwise for them to release a new product that would be susceptible to the same kinds of problems as their old product and to do nothing to remedy the problems with their old product. Also at 2:45 you're basically just making fun of nerds for being nerds and sounding like nerds. That isn't a strong point. Nerds are nerds. People don't point at nerds and feel an immediate sense of shame and insecurity quite like you do. Seek help. (all that said, you were sort of right at 4:00 about the seal update. I think people misunderstood the first "saveTF2" movement as a request for more content instead of focusing on the bot outbreak, which is the crux of the problem. The seal wasn't going to stop the bots.)
