Ah crap! I forgot to do a "Things you Missed" for Demoman and Medic!! Better late than never, I guess. *Grenade Launcher:* There was originally going to be two firing modes for the Grenade Launcher: one would launch grenades from a timed fuse; the other setting would allow remote-detonation. (There's still evidence of this in the game's coding.) *Loch-n-Load:* The name is a pun off the phrase "lock and load", which is a cliche originating from the process of preparing a weapon for firing. "Loch" is also a Scots/Scottish English word for lake. According to the TF2Wiki, it could also be reference to the Demoman's "obsession to blow up the Loch Ness Monster".Demoman also holds the the Loch-n-Load so that the end is slightly above the crosshair, making it look like he's firing it in an arc (which is also how a grenade launcher should probably be fired). This is only cosmetic; it doesn't actually impact the grenade's trajectory. *Loose Cannon:* The phrase 'loose cannon' originates from the days of battleships. It was used to describe a cannon that had broken loose from its mounts,, which meant it was danger to the ship and its crew (read as: a giant lead sled that would probably kill anything it hit or ran over...especially if the seas were rough!). In a modern idiom, it describes someone who has virtually no self-control. It was submitted to the workshop by smash.mn, under the same name. According to the workshop, the iron sights are based off of ship rigging. It also includes the tagline: "You arr a pirate!". Oh, and because of "Source Magic™", the cannonballs still move slower than a standard grenade pill, despite what the description implies *Iron Bomber:* Once again, thanks to "Source Magic™", the projectiles fire in a far straighter line than the normal grenade launcher, resulting in higher accuracy. The workshop page is a bit of goldmine. The weapon, originally called "The Scotch Guardian", and was intended to be designed to fire all four shots at once. The tagline was "With four times more barrels, you can shove four times more deadly explosives up your enemies' respective bottoms!". The stats he suggested are...interesting: "Hold Primary to build up charge" "Releasing Primary fires one extra grenade for each second of charge (up to 3, so 4 total) "Charging Decreases accuracy" "-30% walk speed when charging" "-25% damage done" Because this was _Killburn's first weapon model, combined with the originally suggested stats, the barrels are rigged so they are unable to rotate. *BASE Jumper:* Originally uploaded under the name "Troop Chute". *Ali Baba's Wee Booties:* The name "Ali Baba" is a fictonal character from the story "Ali Baba & the Forty Thieves", which itself was a short story featured in the book "One Thousand and One Nights". *Bootlegger:* Alternatively known as "rum-running", the term originates from people concealing hip flasks full of booze in the legs of their boots. This was usually done for several reasons, be it a ban on alcohol or just trying to avoid the high taxes for imports/exports. *Scottish Resistance:* It was originally going to have 16 deployable stickys, before this was "nerfed" to 14. It also came with two unused sticky models, one of which was eventually recycled to be used for the Sticky Jumper.(Both these unused models can be located and interacted with on cp_gullywash. Also, the model that was used for the Sticky Jumper was only available in red colors when the file was originally released in the WAR! Update.) *Sticky Jumper:* Unlike most weapons, when you used a glitched Killstreak Kit on this weapon, the sheen will actually appear. (Also, I'm still salty about the nerf.) *Quickiebomb Launcher:* It was originally uploaded to the Steam Workshop under the name "The Kingmaker". The description on the workshop states: "And just to be clear, even though the weapon is part of medieval-ish items, it's not meant for the medieval mode". The weapon was submitted alongside the "Glasgow Great Helm" (originally called "Pillager's Barrel"), the "Dark Age Defender" (originally called "Mail Bomber"), and "The Problem Solver" (melee weapon not added to the game), all of which were under a class set titled "The Dark Aged Defender". *Chargin' Targe:* Scottish Highlanders were apparently [in]famous for their charges, holding a single-handed claymore in the right hand, and the targe strapped to the left arm to ward off sword of bayonet blows; the left hand would hold a small dagger that overlapped the targe to be used as a means to slash. (Hence, the idea of an spike being put directly onto the shield isn't completely far-fetched.) Also, the publicity blurb is brilliant: _“If I were to pick up this cowering-plate, I would have to put down my second sword,” a Scotsman thinks. “And surely that is madness.” The Chargin’ Targe solves this riddle by turning the useless shield into a deadly weapon you can run at people with and then bludgeon to death."_ *Tide Turner:* The name is a combination of the expression "turn[ing] the tide" (meaning to change or reverse the outcome of a situation), and "tight turner", which is a reference to the full turning control. The original name on the Steam Workshop is "The Wheel of Misfortune", with the description: "The ship was destroyed due to drunk sailing but atleast the ships steering wheel was salvaged." *Bottle o' Scrumpy:* The large "XXX" logo refers to how cartoons commonly would portray alcohol so as to avoid copyright infringement. It also references the traditional way of rating an alcohol's strength; 3 X's indicate the strongest type. The "bucket" icon are team-specific; RED is "Red Shed Whiskey (1906)"; the BLU one has a a large "B" in the center of a fancy logo, being labeled as 1808 Scotch. *Scottish Handshake:* The term "Scottish Handshake" refers to the stereotype that a person of Scottish heritage greets people by physical assault, which is a result of the Scottish having the stereotypical violent nature. *The Eyelander:* The term is a nod to the word "Highlander", which is the name given to inhabitants of the Scottish highlands. Demoman's hometown (Ullapool) is located in the Highlands. The function of the weapon bears a strong similarity to the movie "Highlander", where immortal humans could gain another immortal's powers by decapitating them in a sword fight. The weapon was originally given to Poopy Joe to fight off Soviet rival Vladimir Bananas in space...before Mann Co. obtained it in completely innocent circumstances. *Horseless Headless Horsemann Headtaker:* The version that the Headless Horsemann uses is notably bigger, and has a distinct purple glow. There is also a filename in TF2 under the name "c_bigaxe", which looks like a hybrid of the Scotsman Skullcutter and the HHHH; it's believed c_bigaxe was an early version of the HHHH. *Nessie's Nine Iron:* The name is a nod to the Loch Ness Monster, who is often refereed to as "Nessie" in Scotland. *Ullapool Caber:* The name is once again a nod to Demoman's home town. The description, "High-yield Scottish face removal" was taken directly from the promotional artwork that Swizzle (the creator of the Caber) created for his entry in the Polycount contest. *Half-Zatoichi:* The weapon's attribute is a reference to the legend of Muramasa, a famous Japanese swordsmith. It is said that he forged swords that, once drawn, could not be sheathed again until the blade had drawn blood. (Does your own blood qualify?) *Persian Persuader:* As the name suggests, the weapon originates from swords used by the Persian Empire in the 9th Century, used in both Persia as well as by the troops that basically everyone in the Persian army was equipped with. The scimitar (Sabre) on the end of the sword is shaped to resemble the Loch Ness Monster's head. Haven't typed that much in a while. I'll probably redo the Heavy, the Engineer, and then finish off with the Medic.

William Wallace was a actual Scottish knight who became one of the main leaders during the First War of Scottish Independence. His sword, The Wallace Sword is one of the most well known Scottish Claymores. It was supposedly lost multiple times kinda referencing the fact The Demoman lost his eye. It used to look exactly like the Eyelander but was modified after being worn out over time.

A claymore is not a basket-hilted sword. Basket hilts are a type of handguard that provides great protection to the hand. The claymore shown in this video lacks that feature. An example of a basket-hilted sword would be the scottish broad sword, which features a distinctive handguard that covers most of the hand.

about the eye-lander: Claymore didnt necessarily meant 2 handed swords in Scotland back in the day it could refer to a single handed sword that was simply larger then other swords like the rapier that was really popular at the time. And the one in the game does not have a basket hilt, it is a regular crucifix guard. Basket hilt swords mostly cover entirety of the hand and could resemble a basket like the name suggests, and were p much only seen in one handed swords.

Not really. That's the English variant, not the original Gaelic pronunciation.

Narax also, how can you use a double handed sword that’s also basket hilted?
@SirNarax5 жыл бұрын
@@cindro5774 I have yet to see one. Point is though neither of those have a basket hilt.

I think the quickie bomb launcher might be loosely based on the Hawk MM-1. Also, there's two types of claymore, the one you showed is the scottish equivalent of a sweihander and isn't basket hilted. The basket hilted version is shorter and used with one hand.

0:46 Slight correction: The PS3 AND 360 versions still have the 6 nades, I can confirm from experience for 360. However, I do believe that whenever they are updated via being online that they get the standard 4. Essentially, the straight 'vanilla' version of TF2 gives Demo the 6 nades.

@Chud_Bud_Supreme5 жыл бұрын
I used to play TF2 on 360 and I can confirm Demo could fire only four in that version. Console TF2 is identical to vanilla TF2 though so he's extremely overpowered. His stickies have a larger, more powerful blast radius and can't be destroyed. Get some Demos on Dustbowl map two and it's nearly impossible for Blu to advance

Just a bit of trivia (unless was already mentioned somewhere in the comments), the loch n load did originally have only two shots however this was changed because people were complaining that it was "too easy to get kills with the weapon" outside of its intended purposes

Eyelander is actually NOT a claymore, a claymore is actually a much smaller sword primarily designed for thrusting it became a misnomer that the big greatswords were claymores.
