I think its because of an uber maybe, while the class was ubered, and then taunted, and after their uber dropped, it maybe gives off a damage resistence? maybe after the uber, the dmg resistence was going down slower, instead of quickly.

@@fuwwox nah dude, theres two likely reasons the first one being unlikely because of how the kamikaze taunt was used, he got launched when he did the kamikaze taunt as seen from when he survives, this also moved his hitbox away from the explosion. The second reason is that soundsmith was under the drop off point of the 2fort hole in the middle. The grenades explosion exploded partially inside the edge of the hole thus taking away most of the range from the explosion, the kamikaze taunt does 320 dmg to self but he actually took 255 meaning he got dmg fall off which is the most likely reason why he survived.

I think, it could be that, in fact, what really happened was that, he got hit by an enemy explosive (a stray rocket or a pipe) right before the grenade went off, and the taunt was cancelled. I don't know of any sources of 255 damage, though.

I mean he was overhealed both times so unless being more overhealed caused him to die I don't know. Although side note I do think it's barely possible to survive the taunt kill if you currently have the battalions backup active. OK I just checked you definitely can survive the taunt kill if you deploy the battalions backup and have full health. Although without an overheal the fall damage from getting knocked into the air will usually kill you. For reference I got this information from fishstickonastick's video about the equalizer.

6:59 - The smoke on his hands is a funny glitch with the dueling banjo taunt they never fixed. If you get the engineer to start playing fast, smoke comes off his hands. If something else knocks you out of the taunt or kills you while you're fast playing, your hands keep smoking even across respawns until you start and stop the taunt normally. It's actually really weird because you can also see it in first person view.

So when he jumped near the drop-down where there is empty space above, he bumped his head on the celling, and the distance from the explosion (or the grate negated) negated some of the damage

In those instances, the explosion can effectively clip into an otherwise sealed-off part of the map because of the explosion's location - which explains why it can deal _no_ damage, but I'm really not sure how that can somehow _reduce_ the damage to...what was it, 250?

Around 8:10 The reason you survived is because this taunt is affected by distance. You explode but the dmg hasnt yet realised it. Thats why you jumped and bounced of off the ceiling, and dmg recorded only most of it because part of the dmg was done in the ceiling/above it.

7:36 I think the actual reason you survived that tauntkill, was the game probably registered that you were ubered when you started the taunt, and presumed "hmm.. this guys ubered, so it won't kill him.." and instead it decreased the ammount of damage you took, and i think (think) it might've put the damage the enemy takes from the taunt in its place, since it detected you as ubered. ...thats just a theory though.
