Best cars ever made. Mos older people from from spouse's family own of of these (also a 2009, 1989, 1994 and 1997). Perfect road trip car indeed, I went to vegas a few times and I plan on doing a roadtrip from LA to Texas. My spouse's cousin just did LA-SLC-Denver-LV-LA a couple months ago. Smoothest ride ever. Late 2016, I was trying to buy a IS350, I couldn't find one the way I wanted it to be equipped. I ended up buying a Infiniti G37s. Not too long after, I found a 2008 fully equipped, but w metallic green paint. that and white are the worst colors. Later than that I found a 2014 F sport for 14k. I regret not getting either of those. they might be a little small, but they are very quick. Aston Martin should have used one of them for the Cygnet. I could go back to late 2016 knowing what I know now, I'd probably get a 2011-2012 X3 I would like something I could throw a bike or a flat screen tv in, yet still sporty. I've had a few BMWs, if you buy one that's been relatively well taken care of and are smart with the maintenance, you can get into the 200k without much drama. I had a 01 330i with 225k, reverse gear went out and I sold it for 3k. turns out for about 6 months, BMW lost their minds and put in a transmission with a weak reverse and softer suspension. I upgraded the suspension, thought about fixing the transmission, but didn't. Wish I had bought a 2002 330i, I wanted one where up shifts were forward, they only had that til 2001

That gen of GS depreciated rapidly while other Lexus models of that era were better at holding their value. It became a sub $5K car by around 2010 and most were run into the ground by owners that got it as an alternative to the econobox type of car. They do have an over complicated brake booster system that is their only fault. When it goes bad from age rather than misuse, it is expensive to repair. Otherwise, the car will go forever. This example was beaten to death. Maintenance was so neglected, the VVTi cam gear is throwing enough oil that it is seeping out of the cover and coating the outside of it. The owner did not even bother to replace the broken oil cap which is like a $10 part.
