@ my vehicle was a buyback from Ford, so its a 2023 and it had 4k miles on it when I purchased it. Had an issue with the main sync screen intermittently going in and out or flickering. Ford said they bought the car back from the original owner and fixed the problem before they put it up for sale. The day I drove it off the lot the screen started flickering an hour into my trip back home. Long story short, had to take 3 visits at the dealership for them to fix the problem which is unacceptable. I assume the original owner just got rid of it because Ford didn’t fix the issue in a timely manner come to find out. It’s going in again because of the rear end clicking when I go from a stop to accelerate or vice versa. Sounds like it’s either the bolts on the rear axle of the drive train or the splines. Quality control needs to be much better. My older ‘14 Explorer was much more reliable.
@Cloud3000019 күн бұрын
How do you rate reliability on a new vehicle? If it was the new Tundra when it first came out, they would have said Toyota’s are very dependable, then screwed over viewers who bought it only to have the engine blow. Reliability can only be measured using real world data after tens of thousands of the new model have years and hundreds of thousands of miles worth of data to examine.

Auto manufacturers are hard at work figuring out how to get more and more subscription services attached to vehicles. It's no secret in business that subs > ownership. This will get worse and worse as long as people accept and pay for those subs now. Please stop, please recognize how dangerous this is now and don't wait. One day automakers could charge a "core" amount for each vehicle and then you pay subs for every little add-on available (blinkers, cruiser control, wipers, safety, stereo, heated/cooling seats, USB ports, even to just start your car could be a sub), then they'd package various bundles for feature subs and you'd pay an upfront core cost + whatever feature sub package you chose and pay on that vehicle forever...never owning it, never paying it off, always paying a sub. eff that, please don't be complacent now...future generations will sit around wondering why on earth their parents & grandparents did this to them.

So I basically have Blue Cruise for life unless Ford decides to dump it. @joemcdonough750920 күн бұрын
Well the debate is more like subscriptions for fixed features vs continuously updated and improved. In this case, Ford Bluecruise and GM's Supercruise require constant maintenance and communications with the vehicles to keep up to date on approved roads and allow hands free driving. GM and Ford are not going to eat the cost of overhead this brings. Even Tesla charges subscriptions for FSD or one giant fee but that's tied to the vehicle, not the buyer. That's in contrast to the stunt BMW tried to pull a few years back of charging you a subscription to use your heated seats which are fixed hardware that never changes.
@Slane58320 күн бұрын
The subscription is for their Blue Cruise nonsense. If you're not using it then you don't have to pay for it, no different than paying for OnStar or Sirius XM Radio. They gave me a trial of Sirius XM and OnStar when I got my Silverado and Sirius stayed on the one 80's station the salesman set it to after he asked me what I listened to. He showed me all the features and what not but once I got the truck it stayed on that one station until the trial ran out. Then I just switched it to normal radio. I never used either feature and probably never will. I don't travel long distance so OnStar is pointless and Sirius Radio doesn't interest me. I would have liked the mobile hotspot for internet but it cost too much per month along with doing a truck payment. Since it's only me in the truck it was again a pointless feature.
@MichaelSmith-kr9qw19 күн бұрын
@@Slane583 I have been a XM/Sirius Subscriber for their entire existence, I love being able to listen to one station throughout my whole trip and not having to constantly search for a new station when you get out of range of FM stations, plus it only cost me about 20ish dollars a month.
@Slane58319 күн бұрын
@@MichaelSmith-kr9qw Sirius XM benefits you because you actually travel to places. I don't travel. At least not very far. If I do travel somewhere it's over to the state neighboring mine. But I'm usually with a friend and his wife in their car and they already pay for Sirius XM. When I drive somewhere it's to go grocery shopping with a family member in their vehicle. My truck gets driven to my friends house so my radio tends to be nothing more than background noise until I get there. Then we're in his car to go into town since it's better on fuel. I was paying for Amazon Music at one point and had all of my playlists downloaded onto my phone. But I just found using it in my truck to be clumsy. So it was something I only ever used while at home. There's nothing wrong with Sirius XM it just doesn't benefit me. Even when there is a chance that it might benefit me I'm usually with someone else who already has it. So there's no point in me paying for it.

Hands free driving kind of like tesla but it doers not do everything for ya. I like it. It will even changes lanes for ya when you put the blinker on. Makes for a fun drive but its not really necessary.

$50.00 dollars a month just to use "Super Cruise"???...no thanks...paying an extra fee to use features that are built into the machine is just stupid...IMO

Interior's are patterned on a living room devoid of color. Do people actually want such lifeless interiors, where a little colored stitching is the only contrast in a sea of grey?

I think its over priced for what it and has. The mileage efficiency on the Explorer is not really all that great to be honest. I imagine this version is not good either given the engine. For the money Ford could and should do better.

I'm glad they didn't hit the explorer with the same ugly stick the ranger and Maverick got.

That was the worst review I’ve seen TFL do. Disappointed. ☹️

If I’m gonna spend that kind of outrageous money on a midsize SUV, I’m just gonna go ahead and jump to the expedition.

However, the Expedition 4WD now costs $66K+

@@TFLnow Yep! A fully loaded Explorer is now in the low sixties. For me and my lifestyle a full size SUV is the only way to go.

@@KeystoneTexan If ya got the room then more power to ya, I unfortunately did not have room for anything bigger unless I wanted to park on the street and get it broken into or have the cats stolen (sad state of our communities nowadays), the explorer just fits in my garage and is just a little bigger than what I had before which is what I wanted. Guess that's why they make different cars choice.

We looked at these today at our local Ford dealership. But when I heard them say it was made in Chicago I was shocked. I bet the back up sensors sounds like a smoke detector with a low battery. Guess we will be looking at something else. That thing wont last 2 years.

How ironic is the timing of this video, because FERD just recalled 100,000 Ecoboost engines yesterday? You know because quality is Job 1. Can you imagine how many customers they would have had to burn before they caved to this massive recall? Remember the Range Rover...I do!
@Anthony-fd8mh15 күн бұрын
Those were older ones and things change, I'm pretty sure newer ones will have everything updated. (at least I'm hoping that have as I have one LOL)
@sickjohnson15 күн бұрын
@@Anthony-fd8mh Can you be more specific to what older ones you mean?
@Anthony-fd8mh15 күн бұрын
@@sickjohnson Sure here ya go: Ford and Lincoln are recalling nearly 91,000 models with the 2.7- and 3.0-liter EcoBoost engines that may fail. The recall affects 2021 to 2022 models with those engines, including the Ford F-150, Bronco, Explorer, and Edge; the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus are affected too. 2021's and 2022's no 23's, 24's or 25's.

Exploder ST is complete crap. Had one. Blew the rear end out twice. Ford removed half of the hardware holding the rear-end together to save $$. Never again!

There is a spare tire, it's in the back under that little compartment they showed it's not a true full size but not a tiny doughnut as well, however the vehicle compensates for the different size (at least the 4WD does) I don't think its a problem for the RWD only one. they tell ya about it in the manual.

Bad lift gate button design.
@Anthony-fd8mh15 күн бұрын
lol How is it bad? You push it and the liftgate opens? I mean if your memory is really that bad that you can't remember its under the "R" then ya that might be an issue but not really an issue with the design lol.

@@icare7151 ROFL no need its a small button that takes no effort to push and its in the same location every time I go to open the trunk. If people have gotten so lazy they can't push a button or remember where it is located after using it more than 3 times, which is also in the same location every time, then I think the problem lies more with society than with ergonomics.😂
