The Buicks of the era you spoke of actually were always good for just over 100,000 miles. Back then the tolerances were no where near the current building tolerances. With the lacking technology you are rebuilding your engine at that point just over 100,000Km. They didn’t usually go boom, they just started burning oil as an indicator when to replace them. The rebuilds were good for 80,000+ miles. The rebuilds were very simple and inexpensive as well!! The reason it feels more sprightly than its 137hp suggests is thanks to the 162 lb/ft of torque that engine puts out. I still think the 6-speed holds it back, and while people will moan and groan about CVTs, I imagine it would help this car if they put the CVT from the FWD version of the Encore GX into this car. It GM's own design and doesn't feel like the dumpster fire that's in Nissan products.
@palebeachbum2 ай бұрын
It's certainly a tempting car. It's a lot of style for a relatively low price. However, it's built by GM Korea (Daewoo) and the overall quality is lacking. I joined a Facebook group for Envista owners to understand how they are holding up. Common complaints revolve around exterior trim falling off, glitches with the digital screens requiring multiple updates at the dealership, AC failure requiring the entire dashboard to be removed for repair, and power windows not functioning. Less common problems include engine failure, transmission failure, and failure of the digital cluster, which dealers have informed customers that it costs $6,500-$8,000 to replace should it fail again outside of warranty. I suspect these cars will end up in landfills with relatively low mileage compared to their competitors due to the sheer number of problems and the associated high repair costs.

I wish GM,especially Buick still made those grandpa cars. Remember most of those cars came with one of the most bullet proof engines ever made. The 3800 V6.
