Great review👍boss has 3 seater MULE, good for muddy/sloppy poo conditions on a dairy. So far so good, tray easy clean out n not dents, only wish had order windscreen for front, extra lights as lights are ok but when reversing in dark there no light. Only let down is seat as made of light material n cut easily, get cut resistance seat cover.

It's recommended (by the manufacturers, mechanics, and experiences offroad drivers) to use low range when driving slowing over obstacles and/or up hills. Will save a lot of wear and tear on your belt. Perhaps the machine can do it in high range, but low range is the correct choice for slower obstacle and hill driving to give the best gearing and avoid slipping the belt in the lowest ratio of your CVT clutches. Plus, better engine braking on hill descents so less wear and tear on brake pads.

@@mixflip yes it does. But what you mentioned is what increased the shipping from 600 to 1500. All this unit needs is a front locker for me to consider it. I have a Teryx4 and use the front locker a fair amount in the mud, snow, hills, crawling over rocks and logs. Other than that I could live with less HP. The teryx is faster and more powerful, but the engine noise and harsher ride are big turn offs for the family and little kids.

As some who grew up around farms there's no way it replaces the farm truck. You cant drive on the road or tow an auger or some cows with it. Replacement for the ATV? Hell yes. Most farmers I know are replacing their ATVs with a decent side by side, Heck allot of them are getting them with enclosed cabins and heaters.

Pro tip: Use low range anytime you are puddering around under 15 mph and this goes for any belt drive CVT UTV. You will slip the belt excessively at low speeds in high range. As someone who worked several years in the powersports industry, the Pro FX/FXT line has become my favorite and most recommended anytime someone asks what I thought was best. Obviously, that does depend on what you are going to use it for, but 95% of UTV buyers don't need anything more powerful. It's such a nice driving, refined machine. I will say, I am pretty pleased with the performance and refinement of the Can-Am Defender. I always held those as my Number 2 pick and have no reason to not recommend those if someone needs a little extra space and has the extra room for storing and transporting one of those. One of my friend's husband bought a Can-Am that ended up being too long for their toy hauler because it had an aftermarket bumper, so instead of sellingbit, he just bought a Pro-FXT to take camping (must be nice to have that kinda money). Another friend and her husband just got a new Defender HD9 and I was impressed how quiet those new ones are compared to tge alteady quiet HD8 and HD10 that I was working with when I still was in the industry.
@TheNotimprezed2 жыл бұрын
I agree on the low range comment, but I don't know if it makes a difference on the Mule unless crawling - on/off throttle type driving. We've used one on the farm for 15 years now and it's probably never been in low range or above 15mph! Still on the original belt. Other sxs seem to tear up their belts if driven in high at low speeds but it really doesn't seem to bother the Mule. I've always assumed due to clutch tuning.

I was wondering, how exactly does low range work on all these side-by-sides that have a CVT? How can there be a low range without any gears?
@MADAmechanical2 жыл бұрын
Transmission is a 2 speed plus reverse. There are gears in there.
@yissibiiyte2 жыл бұрын
@@MADAmechanical that means by definition that it's not a CVT
@MADAmechanical2 жыл бұрын
The primary clutch is on the engine, the secondary clutch is on the 2 speed transmission. The belt and clutches provide continuously variable ratios in 1 of 2 ranges. So yes it's a CVT, with the added low range ability to save the belt when doing hard work and low throttle work where burning belts could be a problem with a single range transmission. There are many good videos on KZbin to better explain the transmission setups on UTV's and ATVs. A snowmobile like the Skidoo expedition, which is 2 speed transmission, is of a similar concept.

That is a very nice machine. I think the 800cc engine is too small for that ride's capabilities. What may surprise some is the engine is acutually a Chinese Chery engine. Imagine that. A Japanese ride with a Chery engine! Apparently they're reliable enough for Kawasaki and John Deere to put them in one line of their machines. They're used in quite a few lesser known brands of SxSs. I have the 1100cc version in my machine.

Maybe educate yourself a bit. While a helmet is fine to wear it’s not required in most states / provinces in North America as long as your sxs is equipped with seatbelts and a roll cage. Pending you wear the belt of course. Not saying a helmet is a bad idea but it’s not required so no need to bash him for choosing (lawfully) not to wear one.

@@pajamatime5750 While the original poster was a bit snarky, they didn't say a helmet is required nor comment on legality of it. He conveyed that helmets are a good idea to use because of the things one typically encounters in a UTV (being jerked around so head contact rollcage or from sticks (downed trees sticking into trail) or rocks (from other riders kicking them up), and to be a good example for wearing proper safety gear while riding.
