Shamefully, I had a 2006 Blazer SS. It had the big Vette engine and went vroom. And chevy fanatics thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was not a good machine. And at about 40K, the transmission broke. Under warranty. Yet, they claimed it was "normal" for it to fail around that mileage. Excuse me? I have had many other brands that go well over 150K before it even starts to slip. So bottom line, they lost me for good. NEVER giving them another chance.

Typical "no thought" comments below and "what have they done with these names" schtick. The little crossover is obviously capable and has features that make it worthwhile to look at for the hiking, mountain biking, fishing, outdoor type buyer. Tommy chose a good path to test it and it handled the terrain well. Another good video from TFL.

Tom Smith - And I’d like to see you try! LOL! Chevy’s do not have a viable 4x4 system intended for serious use, no locking differentials, no fancy faux simulated 4x4 drive, just a badge on the side that says 4x4. Subaru while not perfect, has a respectable system. The funny thing here is that you believe what you say and WANT to try! Hilarious! And before you go getting all defensive, why not realize that neither of these vehicles are intended to go off-road! They are just meant to be a little safer or better to drive on roads during messy situations. They are what they are! Like yours, great! But just know to take your HEAVIER, non locking-diff’s Chevy up this sandy hill is pure insanity. LOL!

Guys we need to learn to change with the times, This car yes it's not a proper 4x4 but the price benefit it way better, same with the gas mileage if that's what your looking for. Do you criticize the Rav 4 for being a crossover and being good off-road... no. People are leaning more towards small cars because they don't need off-road capabilities like they used to, roads are better and a lot of people don't live in the country. But considering what this car is I think it's great. Just appreciate what you get for the fraction of the cost. And also do you know how much the stinking new Bronco costs! You would be considered rich to buy that thing... Which is sad

Because most American buyer don't take vehicles off pavement. I mean we are spending upwards of 30-50k American on vehicles with parts that are easier replaced then repaired. Thanks Tommy! I have owned 3 Wranglers (2 YJs and 1 TJ) and LOVED each one but lives and priorities change and I'm finally considering options that will improve my mpgs, carry some pets/cargo with greater ease, handle my New England winters (and my own very rural, steep gravel road & driveway). This would be a great contender for someone who still wants to have some fun, but improve their carbon footprint on a budget and tool around in a bit of style!

The trail gets harder and harder every time you go up it because you're digging ruts in the trail everytime. While what you're doing is a good test of the AWD system, I don't think people are going to stop at every rut and test the system. Treading lightly isn't a thing to you. I own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT LS and frankly speaking it is way better than the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer I don't know what happened with the engineers at Chevrolet but they should go back to the drawing board and maybe even have a conversation with me when it comes to a 4x4 the problem with all wheel drive is is that it's referred to as part-time four-wheel drive it is not a full-time system unlike a traditional 4x4 which is full-time four-wheel drive traction you don't have that with the all-wheel drive the problem is the 2021 was designed for fuel economy whereas the 2004 was designed for what is intended purpose was to be a Trailblazer and for performance. This is why I never bought the 2010 Trailblazer or the SS because quite frankly with the 5.3 l V8 I have in it with the YN supercharger who needs an SS I have seven passenger capabilities think about that and it's built on a truck frame way stronger. There's a lot of people buying 2003-2004 all the way up to 2010 trailblazers and recycling them into all-terrain vehicles with a lot of aftermarket goodies the sky's the limit it only comes down to your imagination look at the many KZbin videos on lifted trailblazers just to give you some level of inspiration food for thought

Seltos is offroad styled, but is really meant for onroad duty with its AWD more designed for snow and wet leaves and the like. Onroad I think its nicer in many ways, and the 7-speed DCT is very snappy shifting with a higher horsepower engine. That said, this is definitely better offroad, has that folding front seat, and can even tow 1K lbs which the Seltos can't.

I’m honestly happy this sub segment is taking off. These days, the off-roading I do isn’t much harder than this and my current 2016 Jeep Patriot handles it well. That said, a vehicle that doesn’t have skid plate and tow hooks could possibly do that trail too, but when you have the whole family with you, being stranded due to cracked oil pan or just in a ditch is not an option. And before anyone says “Just get a real Jeep or 4Runner etc, why have something that gets terrible gas mileage and drive ability (not to mention extra price) just for roads/trails like this?
