You know what I really like about Andre's style, this guy sees and drives everything out there. Raptors, TRX's, Denali's, ZR2's, diesels, etc., but when he buys his own trucks for his personal use it isn't loaded with tech and luxury features. Very much a working man's truck mentality and I think there are a lot of people that feel the same way. Thanks for being real!

Andrey, thank you for braving the first year of new truck models. Being a TFL journalist, you have an opportunity to test new vehicles and give the rest of us the good, bad, and ugly of new models. That helps us make better purchasing decisions, and that is one of the reasons I appreciate TFL content so much. Honestly and openly reporting issues such as the unannounced cruise control delete in the GM configurator is the kind of useful information the rest of us need but don't often get from other automotive journalism platforms. Kudos to you and TFL for doing that.

I know how you guys feel about the color. When I bought my Kona in 2020 is was a rainy, cloudy day. The color looked like a dark red. A few days later when the skies finally parted the light really changed the personality. Hyundai’s pulse red reminds me of a metallic candy apple red. It really reminds me of the paint we had on our 70s and 80s cars growing up. I have to admit, it’s nice driving something that isn’t so run of the mill like so many manufactures do these days with the colors they offer.

In regards to the patrons' question, if he's in a super duty, he's most likely running E load tires, not D load as is this Colorado shown. Therefore, the tire PSI should be higher. Make sure you're running E load tires made for a super duty because they are 10 ply and have a much stronger side wall.

Just do like I did put fog lights to the vehicle. You put LED fog light in the spot where the fog lights go on the truck. Keep the regular incandescent bulb headlight. that’s what we did in our car it works fine. I change the incandescent bulb out fog light. Put led fog lights work great. Did that way for winter time and also at night you’ll will get the brightness out LEDs. My GMC 1500 sierra did not come for lights but I’ll add them went online and got the light from the dealership has parts and put them in myself the wires are there to hook up fog lights just had to add fuse’s. Also cruise control. To truck just cruise control for $250.

Congratulations, Andre! GM pushed the envelope in design, which will get people who would never look at a GM vehicle to at least try it out. I see little touches too, like the way the top of your instrument cluster echoes your sculpted hood. Genius is in the details. Don’t feel too bad about the CC, in 2003 I was working as an electrical engineer in telecom. I knew a layoff was coming, but I also knew I needed something cheap and drama free. I got myself a brand new Ranger Edge extended cab with the 4 L overhead cam. X plan out the door was $16,300. But the dealer forgot to add cruise. I was bummed at first, but I got over it, it’s not the end of the world. The truck is still on the road. When I got the 2015 F150 I sold it to a neighbor who needed cheap wheels and he’s still driving it. I mean like he is literally still driving it, he lives in a couple houses down on my street and I just saw it go by! 165,000 miles last time I asked. Mobil 1 every 5000. I guess I’m getting old, I don’t want to hear the exhaust on a truck. For the record, a 2003 Ranger 4 L exhaust sounded like a couple of cats having it out with an old Eureka vacuum cleaner at high noon🙀

I could care less about the headlight controls in the screen honestly. I've seen people's concern over it but in my 3 yrs of owning my Silverado I almost never touched the physical controls because automatic lights do everything you need. So I can understand why they thought it would be good to save space and move it if it doesn't get much use Trip meter and driver cluster controls in the infotainment cluster is awful though in my opinion. Hopefully a SW update changes that

I don’t mess with the light switch, always on auto, a lot of time my phone is streaming music, and how many people reset their trip meter? I do but I wouldn’t mind how you have to do it if it’s a big deal. As far as what was said about halogens, I would agree that at least they would keep the lights defrosted.

I said it before but adding the multiflex tailgate from the Silverado would improve the idea of having only one bed configuration. Having that flip up extension built into the tailgate would add a little length to the bed. Also Super Cruise is one of the most advanced self driving systems on the market today. The sheer fact that they haven't made adaptive cruise control standard, is dumb. Other companies that sell less vehicles with more primitive self driving have made adaptive cruise control standard. The fact that basic cruise control isn't standard. They are outright greedy, if not worse than companies trying to make you subscribe for heated seats. BMW.

2nd generation Canyon diesel crew cab longbox owner (with damped tailgate) here. We can't get the CCLB configuration or a small efficient diesel in a midsize truck anymore. I have no desire to "upgrade" my Canyon to these new trucks, that extra foot of bed length comes in very handy at times. Funny thing was, the long box was only another $325 if memory serves, it is odd to me that the CCLB configuration is comparatively rare. The new 2.7 engine and 8 speed transmission combo on the new trucks looks nice though, and it has been around for awhile now in the full size trucks, so that is good.

I get all the tech in new cars today because people think it cool but having so many of the functions in the screen is very distracting having to take your eyes off the road swipe right and left up and down looking for what ever it is you wanting at the time vs knowing where a button or knob is and can go to it by feel and never take your eyes off the road in my opinion, something so simple as resetting the trip meter now takes four steps is ridiculous! Having the light switch in the screen is just lazy and stupid that GM couldn't just use a light switch from the parts bin.

GM nailed the look of this truck on the outside but it feels cheaper in every way compared to my 2016 Colorado. Walked away from the car show feeling disappointed when I saw the interior quality in person. Looking forward to seeing what the new tacoma has to offer.

Great job guys. Lot of very good real world info here. The 3rd Gen is growing on me, going to need to grow more to get me out of my 17 ZR that I've upgraded with after market parts that match most the 3rd Gen changes.

Again, I'm 56, look at far we've come in trucks, my dad worked at the GM proving grounds as an engineer, head of the machine shop. He ordered a new 1979 3/4 ton Chevrolet Scottsdale for his brother, a farmer by trade. It had the 292 straight 6, 4 spd transmission with granny first gear. 4.11 rear axle, two tone brown and tan. Vynal interior, my uncle didn't even care if it had a radio.!! Regular cab, 8' box. In those days, a 3/4" 8' piece of plywood was a bedliner.! 2 weeks after he picked up the truck, we went up north to visit, we were told by my aunt upon arrival, my uncle was out back, loading 8"concrete blocks. My dad and I started to help, by picking each block up and carefully placing them into the bed of my uncles 2 week old truck. My uncle yelled out, I don't have time for this, as he chucked each 8" block into the bed from 5 ft away.! Now we're so concerned if we get a scratch anywhere.!! So, the truck cost him $4000 in 1979. Don't know exactly what my uncle made farming, maybe $20-30,000. Still, he treated a truck, as a TRUCK. Now it's a glorious cowboy caddilac.

Cruise control is the most necessary thing... Most trucks no days have most of these things you're pointing out. I have an aftermarket Ultragauge for my 2022 F-150 that has all the engine perimeters right on my steering console. Has trans temp and everything possible. Super handy

I first read about the new Canyon/ Colorado in 2022 and saw some spy photos. I knew when I read about the 4 cylinder engine and digital gauges that I didn't want what GM was selling. I prefer the Nissan Frontier because it has more of a classic truck design with a more low-tech, and for me, it is a more user-friendly interior with a naturally aspirated 6 cylinder engine. It will be interesting to see a long-term review of the 2023 Colorado. At work, we have an Isuzu cube van, and there have been problems with the touchscreen. Sometimes, if you push the volume, the radio stops working. When you turn the air conditioning on, it will not turn off. To reset the touchscreen, you have to turn the truck off and on several times. I am curious to see if tying everything into the touchscreen will cause problems in the future or is the GM technology reliable? On the 2023 Colorado I don't hate or like the front design but I hate all the plastic on a 4x4 because it will get busted if you hit anything. I also find the lack of skid plates and fog lights for a 4x4 unacceptable. Without a light switch or auxiliary switches (like a Jeep) then how do you add and wire up fog lights, off-road lights or other accessories? If you want to replace the spare with a more puncture resistant offroad tire with aggressive tread, there are places that sell used tires (about 70% tread) for a fraction of the cost of a new tire. The best aftermarket towing mirrors for the Colorado or Canyon are the Boost Auto Parts or ClearView mirrors. All the beeping and chiming would drive me crazy. It looks like Andre was getting annoyed by all the beeping reminders that treat the driver like an idiot that needs to be constantly nagged. In February 2023, I found a good deal on a Base 2016 GMC Canyon, extended cab, long box, 2wd, manual transmission truck with a 4 cylinder engine. The Base Canyon had 16 inch rims so I went to a salvage yard and bought 18 inch SLT rims then put 285/65R18 Toyo Open Country AT tires on the back and 235/65R18 Open Country HT tires on the front to get the "farm truck" look. The engine was so quiet I had to look at the Tach to know when to shift. To make the truck loud enough to be able to hear the engine I put a Cherrybomb Vortex muffler on it and now it sounds like an aggressive 6-cylinder. The Cherrybomb muffler improved my fuel economy, and now I can shift gears without looking at the Tach because I can listen to music and still hear the engine.

Really nice looking truck and beefy, but it lack or needs to change the following. 1. Add a headlights switch l. Screen are not as reliable as a switch or easy and cheapnto replace, especially from chevy. 2. LED headlights 3. Cruise control 4. Trip odometer lever. suggestions, 1. Smaller wheels Now, I don't want to be a first gen owner from a chevy. On the shocks I thought I was the only one who noticed the mounts to be too low and sticking out.

I’m sure the cruise control is already built into the program. Try buying the button switch and maybe the corresponding harness for the steering wheel and change it out. There were a lot of cars that came from the factory without cruise control and all they needed was the physical button because they mostly all come programmed the same so the dealer can up charge 1000% for a $50 button 🙄

@@WheresHerb depends. I added cruise control to a 2016 KIA Soul base model with a 6 speed manual by just changing out the switch panel and wire harness in the steering wheel. The parts are usually available through the dealership and many times offered as dealer upgrades to create more revenue for themselves. It’s at least worth looking in to.

Great looking truck from GM finally! I'm rooting for GM to put the quality, durability and reliability back in. I was all about GM from the 80s to the early 2000s. Had 2 Suburbans 3 GM minivans, 2 vettes, 3 Fieros & a H3 Hummer. No one can accuse me of being a hater. Once I got my first of 2 used Tacomas, I never looked back. If GM changes their ways and treats their customers better, I might look at them again as I need a car here in the Philippines.

Great video. I bought the first year 2007 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 and still driving. Only problem is I had to replace the fuse box under the hood at 160,000, and now have 170,000 on it. Living in city I can hardly remember when I last used cruise control or even high beams. You guys should do more videos while driving. You can kind of do a version of carpool karaoke.

I heard on videos though that the bedliner material is not rust proof though. People who get their cars coated in bedliner do not remove all of the paint, they just scuff it so that the bedliner will stick.

I always felt like Nathan got agitated with Andre in the past, but he seems to handle Andre's enthusiasm better which is a nice change. I love the new Colorado and it's looks blow the competition away. I think 3 levels of engine torque is foolish, but it's GM's way of getting more money out of you because more than half the people with the plus will spend the money to get the factory tune for more torque and Nathan, pound comes before feet. It's ridiculous for GM to put halogen lights on the trail boss and not have cruise control as standard equipment is inexcusable. I loved the review!

Love following you guys each week. I don't mean to correct Nathan, but I own a 2016 CREW CAB with the 6' bed. I had to special order it for 2 reasons. Back in late 2015-early 2016, dealerships rarely had more than 1 Colorado on the lot. And never had the 6' bed. The other reason, was for $40K, I wanted to be everything I wanted so color, options and 6 ft bed were a must. I enjoy my Colorado, because I can put a blowup mattress in the back and sleep in it. I also have a matching A.R.E. cover. Sadly I did not get the diesel and now wish I did. GM killed the 2.8 diesel on the Colorado/Canyon. So my next truck will either be a 1500 with the 3.0 diesel or the 2500 with the 6.6 Duramax.
