I've been pretty curious about why people call these 2nd Gen. There were at least 2 body styles before this one I can remember.
@csgilliam3 жыл бұрын
@@Shutchohole it originally was a reference to the Cummins models as 89-93 was the 1st gen of that. It has now for some reason became simply a Ram reference but that doesn't work for because the Ram goes back much farther. Traditionally the "gen" reference is for Cummins models only.
@Shutchohole3 жыл бұрын
@@csgilliam makes more sense that way I guess. I don't really get referring to everything as a generation, unless you're shopping for parts or a certain year range of a vehicle. Vehicle body designation usually works better for me. Fox body, G body, A body etc make more sense, just not sure trucks have that distinction.
@chloedegurechaff19413 жыл бұрын
@@Shutchohole It depends on who you talk to. Most people count the generations of the D/W trucks as being part of the generations. theres 3 generations on D/W. with the 3rd gen being renamed RAM in 81. So either the 94-01/2 dodges are 4th gens or 2nd gens. I prefer calling mine a 2nd gen. as lets be honest here. All the D/W trucks are soooo so similar. hell they share the same frames and body panels for the most part, and engines stayed mostly the same as well.

Of all those the GMT-400 trucks rode the best, broke down the least, did best in the snow, had the best power and were the easiest to work on. As far as I’m concerned the GMT-400 was the best pickup ever built. Last of the old small blocks but with overdrive trannys (all mine were manual), roomy cabs, and torsion bar suspension.

For ease of repair, reliability I would say Early 2000 trucks were the best around. Ford 2v 4.6/5.4, Chevy 4.8/5.3, Dodge 5.2/5.9 were all fairly basic trucks that you could put a ton of miles on. Yes, they had some issues, but overall rock solid in my opinion. Before the days of active fuel management, direct injection, vvt, turbos, 6-8-10 speed transmissions to add to complexity. I’ve got a 2001 Ram 1500 with all the same broken parts! They used very cheap plastics and fabrics for that interior and they all went bad. 193,000 miles though so it’s hard to complain too much.

I love these truck comparisons for every day real trucks. While I can afford a new truck but it seems Ludacris to pay 60-70k for a new truck! I now own a 94 F-150 single cab, short bed 4x4 with 395k miles. It runs and looks great, I constantly get compliments on it with offers to buy it!

I love how the air intake is just sitting there open to the engine sucking all that hot air and you gotta change that

Lov comparing the the older models, since the new ones are so expensive the average Joe has to go used! Do some on the the smaller and midsize too!!

I keep saying Roman is the funniest cast member because he's not afraid to cross boundaries this segment had nothing to do with condoms yet I found myself crying laughing 😂😂

Actually the diesels have better condom names. Duramax, cummins, powerstroke

I laughed when he said indestructible while talking about the f150 because my headgasket blew and hydrolocked my motor/bending all of the rods trying to pull a trailer up a very small incline.
@gorgeusjames2 жыл бұрын
Funny though you're a very weird case being the 4.6 2V one of the best engines ever made and one of the most durable ones ever, just look around and see plenty of them on the streets..You might had a mopar engine on that truck??
@walterwoods89782 жыл бұрын
@Jaime Acosta could barely find a replacement engine cause most of the parts trucks', motors were blown
@walterwoods89782 жыл бұрын
@Jaime Acosta the older 4.6's are bulletproof though. My dad had one well into 500k miles. He only sold it because of the exhaust.

Was in love with the Ram Off Roads back in the day. 4.10 posi rear, factor lift, 17” rims, beautiful trucks! Just had crappy transmissions and the intake valley pan would leak and cause oil consumption issues.

Probably be around 10 seconds at high altitude like shown here, but still, those 460's are torque monsters.

Sounds like the Dodge Ram has a locked up clutch fan. This is the kind of content we love!! That RAM had an LSD for sure!

Thought the same thing. I had a 2nd gen ram with the 360 and it was pretty quick until the fan locked.
@kevin9c13 жыл бұрын
That Dodge has aged like my 99 (dash, sunglasses holder and map light). Also my fan clutch was locked up just like Nathan's. I replaced the clutch and that fixed it.

No lie. I raced my 2001 5.4 against my buddys 98 with a 5.7 we raced 3 times and all three times I got him on top end. It was so close. You're looking at differences of gearing ratios and rear diff ratios. Great race !

@7:20, that’s a normal issue with the Ford F-150. It’s the connection on the back of the cluster. My old F150 had the same issue and it only had 140k miles on it.....now I have a PW :-)
