Actually less than half of the heaviest elements come from supernovae. We recently learned that most of them are from the "r-process" that happens for a short moment when neutron stars collide (called a kilonova), as the neutron-rich matter falls apart and disassembles.

Thanks for sharing! Makes sense that heaviest elements come from ultra-dense neutron stars colliding

The thing you saw at the end of the video was a stellar engine. There is a video about it too.

could be a series called "T Folse Visits" like, "T Folse Visits INL"
If the sun went supernova, I'm pretty sure around 8 minutes in the disaster would start Once the information that the sun is gone reaches earth in around 8 minutes, it would completely mess up its orbit Also the intense light would be so bright that it'd start cooking the earth Once the supernova itself reaches earth, it would just continue getting hotter and hotter, eventually reaching over 5000C At that point almost every material starts boiling and the earth would evaporate into a cloud of gas I think, I'm not an expert

They also have a video on colonizing Mars that addresses your questions about the future inhabitants.

7:12 What do you mean "extra set of wings"? At this point it only shows 2 pairs of wings. Butterflies already have a second pair of wings irl _without_ mutations.

5:06 The elements heavier than iron couldnt exist without supernovas, but interestingly they are not really needed for life, which mostly consists of carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, etc. But i guess you still need a supernova to spread the lighter elements like carbon and oxygen (that were all fused from hydrogen in stars) into the universe. Am I missing something though, or could life still exist without the elements heavier than iron?

Is it possible for a rogue white dwarf to hit the Sun out of nowhere and then have a supernova? There are binaries with white dwarves in them, it is not inconceivable to have such a scenario as rogue white dwarves flying around, hitting things. A collision like that is less likely than winning the lottery ten times in a row, but as long as the chance isn't zero, there is a chance!

7:05 to be clear here your not saying radiation cant cuase birth defects and mutations in still developing fetus's your just saying already formed and adult creatures cannot gain such extensive mutations as second heads right?
