V59 has made virtual desktop playable now. I’m also a tp link fan and only use tp link routers for streaming and as standard access points. The bitrate still fluctuates in V59, but not as much and it doesn’t drop as heavily as it did in v57. It’s definitely not fixed in v59 but it’s a lot better and I’m now finally using Q3 for pcvr and I have put my Q2 back in its box.

Yeah your channel was the first I had heard of the Quest 3 having Wifi issues. I was one of those Steam users that just didn't use it because it was broken. I don't really understand what's going on with the all the network settings but by connecting my Quest3 to my PC with a link cable, then setting the bitrate to fixed at the lowest rate I was then able to get a steady connection through Airlink...well, when Airlink decides it wants to work. As a developer though I can imagine Meta is swamped with support tickets, most of the support for our game is walking people through issues with the headset. So far, "update the headset" and "reboot" have been the best fix, otherwise it's finding some feature or setting that isn't working the way it should. Even personally the headset or some feature doesn't work correctly almost everytime I try to use it.

Yepp. Though the wifi issue still isn't fixed completely it's alot better now in v.60. But for link make shure you sett the Q3 to full resolution and 90Hz. It's default is low and 72Hz.

I really love this headset and i want it to be as grate as it is intended. That's why all these small and big issues are so frustrating, especially when you feel most of them should have been caught in QA. But if the Quest 2 has taught us anything it's that Meta will continue to improve the headset incrementaly for it's lifetime. So i have faith that most of the issues will be ironed out in the comming months. One thing all of the people watching this video can agree on is that we belive in the VR industry and we only want to see it grow. 2024 is going to be a hell of a year for HMDs. I agree 💯 and although I'm not happy current with how meta is handling my refund I'm supportive of vr and to be clear I only returned my meta quest 3 vr headset because I'm satisfied with the quest 2 currently and feel like being a early adopter of the quest 3 wouldn't justify selling my quest 2 . Most of what i enjoy doing in vr the quest 2 does very well so when I kept going back in forth between quest 2 and 3 headset I couldn't justify owning the quest 3 currently for over $700 having the 512gb but I look forward to purchasing it from a actual retailer later next year or 2025 after they improve the headset.

Exactly the same happened to me. I could buy games using the 4 digit pin before my quest 3 arrived and now I can't make a purchase at all. I've tried every card I have, tried using vpn's, deleted my bank info and added again. I've spoken to 11 meta customer service staff over 3 weeks. Still nothing!!!

Other than the battery and bad hardware, most other problems can likely be fixed in some updates. While obviously things like this shouldn’t be a problem, in the day and age where everything is “Release it now, fix it later and there is nothing you can do about it” I am glad that most of these things can simply be fixed later. Let’s just hope they… you know, do it. (Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they usually fix these things after a few updates)

My Quest 3 cant decide witch wlan frequency to pick and so it always reconnects the wifi... The Meta Support said, it has to be the fault of the router but I dont have this issue with any other device.

That's generally the entire bug explained layman's terms. Your ruter is fine and so is your headset. It's the firmware that's messed up. The ppl on the support line are totally oblivious, and they are probably instructed not to egnollage that there are issus. But Meta (and TPlink) has confirmed that there is an issue and they are working on a solution. (More vids on this issue on my channel.)

I was also given to understand that when you use a Q3 with Virtual Desktop it still registers on the Steam hardware report as a Q2. That could be an old issue though, I haven't kept up on it. But perhaps that's what's making the numbers look so small on the hardware report.

Right. Thats the same issue that did not show Quest 3 or 6gz in the VD overlay. That is fixed now, but i can't confirm if that relates to steam registering correctly .

My main issue with Q3 is a message that I have debris/water inside my charging port. Headset just don't charge until I restart it without any cable attached

I was using a TPLink Archer C3200, with no problems at all... however, I wanted more bandwidth so I bought the TPLink AXE5400 for dedicated use only and It has been wonderful, maybe its because I live in México and there is not too much interference with the signals @@MrTeeF

I had a dead pixel on my first unit. it was super fast to replace so no issue there. I have had a superb wireless pc vr experience. I upgraded my router to wifi6e and my gpu to an nvidia 40 series. My vr rig is In the same room with the router and I get just about 2000 Mbps with virtual desktop using av1 and negligible latency. I have used it further from the router for browsing and movies and had no problems. After some pretty terrible interactions with meta support though, and getting a fully functional headset, I can safely say the quest three is the best wireless pc vr headset in visual quality and comfort. there are not very many competitors, Pimax has fail to deliver, HTC's visuals have not aged well, Pico has not released a direct quest 3 competitor, and valve may nev It definitely has some minimum specs such as the at least 40 series gpu for that av1 codec and a router that supports 6e, but you won't find these specs quoted anywhere by meta because pc vr is not the intended use, its just an option. I'm all in all very happy with the thing, a great successor to my Reverb G2, and a saving grace after the crystal.

To make sure I got the cleanest signal with least interference, I made sure to disable the 2.4g and 5g band broadcasting in the modem/router combo box that COX Communications had installed originally. As well as the only things using wifi are the headset and my phone, the rest is ethernet

Yep, been trying to buy Quest 3 from them for about a month now but their system keeps putting my order on hold asking me to update my information and every time I do it automatically cancels my order so I have to make a new order with them each time and around and around we go. Can confirm, their support is absolutely hopeless with getting to the bottom of this issue. I also had that Walking Dead camp fire crash happen to me on the original Quest a couple of weeks back, so it's not a issue related to newer hardware.

Touch wood, I feel fortunate to not have experienced any of these issues with my Quest 3 (yet). Even battery life has been good for me compared to my old Quest 1, although it's noticeably better playing games natively than PCVR. The one issue I have had is that Asgard's Wrath 1 on PCVR, which I got with my Quest 3 preorder, doesn't appear in my games list via Virtual Desktop. I have to use Meta's Air Link where it is among my games list & playable. Which is a pity as Air Link looks inferior to Virtual Desktop imo

I also have a TP router I use with my Quest 3. I use it to play steam games mostly, and I was beyond impressed with my cheap TP router. I have zero issues, with both the TP router (tp link archer c6) and the Meta Quest 3.

@@MrTeeF Yes, Wi-Fi 5, Four-antenna AP scenario = 867 Mbit/s transfer rate. I haven't even seen a single artifacts while game streaming. It's rock solid. I even keep the router in the basement, and play on the floor above.

Got a just few more days (thursday) left until i have to decide whether i send my Quest 3 back or not. At least they're working on it. Hope those wifi negotiation rate issues can get fixed from Meta's side not just for tp-Link hardware.

Actually, it could be something TP-Link can fix with firmware updates, I have a D-Link AX5400 router and it's connection to the Quest-3 is rock solid, I also have a TP-Link AX1500 (in AP mode) and it does fluctuate quite a bit, sometimes making the Quest-3 impossible to use due to stutter city. The D-Link router is a joy to use with VD. :)

Just googled it, and D-link ax5400 router is a 300-500€ router ( that i can't even get here ). A lot of the high-end expensive router have been reported to work properly because they handel package loss and speed reduction differently... but it should not be required to spend another 3-500€ to get it working over wifi.

My biggest issue was the battery life, even when plugged in and playing. I do flight simming. I need at least 2 hours. The view was nice, wireless worked for me, not great, but it worked. If the thing could have unlimited play when hooked to the computer I would have kept it.

Appreciate the video, but a lot of what you've said here is counter to my own personal experiences. No dead pixels and minimum mura which some folks have noticed. Battery is ok, with a headstrap with 8000mAh you can pretty much maintain charge. I've not had it crash per-say but it did die on me! Turns out if the headset dies and you can't get it back to life by holding the volume and power button for 30 seconds, not happend since. I've had a great time and I play wirelessly PCVR a lot, use a dedicated 6e router. Sorry for those who have problems, must be frustrating, but I think it's a great headset.

For me, i have latency issues with my wifi 6 router, but when I switch back to the wifi 5 all is well. This happens with the Q2 and Q3.

Just sharing my experience, i bought an AXE75 router from the UK and had major stuttering issues. It turns out the UK and EU have hardware limitations on 6E channels due to restrictions (for example the PSC channel couldn't go more than 85 or something). So i returned it to amazon and got a refund. Later i bought an AXE 75 router from the US it has the 6E capabilities fully unlocked, and it doesnt stutter as bad as the EU one. Its still waay better. I can go above 85 PSC till 200 something. And also there is a setting to activate the 6ghz network that was missing in the EU one. So I'm guessing the problem is not just software but hardware for some countries. Meta still needs to optimize some software aspects but there is some other things they probably cannot fix

So TP confirmed. For the 6GHz, the EU and US do got different law about that: www.wi-fi.org/countries-enabling-wi-fi-in-6-ghz-wi-fi-6e The US version allow full 6GHz to be used, then EU version only allow half of the 6GHz to be used as home wifi. Did not mention if they think it had anything to do with the issue though but i guess it's another valuable piece of info none the less.

I wish fluctuation was my problem with the PCVR issue. Except for Beastsaber (which is intermittent) any time I try to launch a steam vr app it kills my entire PC, screen goes dark and the only way to get my PC to accept any input is to unplug the power. After a few attempts with this it also dumps all my router settings and I have to set it back up. The wireless PCVR function is the only reason I got the quest 3 and so far it is a $500 brick.

I just had my headset replaced because of dead pixels but Meta replaced it directly instead of the online store where I bought it from. The new unit seems fine so far but noticed that the display seems to have lines flickering on fast moving scenes in action games which wasn't on the other headset. Pretty odd and not sure what's causing it. Also my battery life was pretty good and even would charge from external battery in VR (not MR though) This replacement won't charge using external battery or even plugged in with charging cable while using it, even in low power mode but loses 1 or 2% , discharging slowly

Man that sucks. Migth though all be the result of different firmware. But send a bug report via report a problem. (Do a Screengrab > Quick menu > report a problem).. if nothing changes with 30 days you can always return the headset again under warranty.

Don´t know, if it is related, but my Quest 3 even is failing while simply downloading from the store, not trying to stream VR from my PC. Got full downloadrate, and all of a sudden, it drops in 150K/s mode. If i disable WiFi and the reenable it after a few seconds, all is back to full speed again.

Yeah my Quest 3 cannot find the 6Ghz band at all anymore. I use the TP-Link RE815XE as an Access Point.

So apparently a lot of people are reporting the same issue of 6G not showing. I have never had this issue but here are things i have heard: - Make sure you're running the latest firmware via the Theder APP - Do a diagnose of network to make sure there are no channel conflicts: Theder APP - Tools > Network Diagnostics > Diagnose - Make sure the 6G nett has a unique name and passkey - Click on advanced in the 6G wifi setting in the theder app. Activate PSC and make sure that Hide SSID is not toggled - Wait 3 to 5 min and it suddenly shows up (This one seams like an annoying fix) - Add the network manually: Write down Name, Security protocol and passkey. (like f. eks. TP-link-VR6G, WPA3-Personal, passw0rd23). Then ad network on the quest and enter it manually without scanning. Let me know if it helped. ;)

I'm returning my Q2 because the battery failed. Any recommendations of something better that works ? I wa=ear glasses as well and to be fair its a tight fit in the Q2, I have thick frames and I can't get lens inserts made.

Well, it depends. Did you want to go to Standalone or PCVR? Playstation VR2 has a really flexible face shield that can fit some beefy glasses. But of course, you'd have to invest in a PS5 if you don't already have one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn2qmqGXZrNpoZosi=Wdzp_64wlAjV55or For standalone, you only have 2 options at the moment, and that's Quest og Pico. Think they're quite similar in form factor, though. The Quest 2 is, in my opinion, the most solid and reliable headset, for both PC and Standalone. If you get a replacement with a working battery, you can mod and “frankenstein” your headset to fit you better. Like using the bobovr halo strap to get the pressure away from your face and glasses. You can also get it with replaceable battery packs. You can also get third-party face shields like from Bobovr and/or AMVR Face Pad Cushion. Also; are you sure prescription lenses can't reach your eyesight? Can I ask what prescription you have?

5:42 - I was having this EXACT issue and I had no idea why. With my set up my streaming should be SCREAMING and my framerate and latency keep going yellow! At least now I know why, so that you for that!!!! Guess I need a new router..... any router suggestions that alleviate this issue?

Great video. I use the quest 3 almost exclusively for PCVR (its great), but I do so using a powered usb-c cable so I don't see the battery problems anymore but I know they are there. I hope you get a resolution to the wireless issue as that that will probably inform what wireless solution I go for too.

My graphics had gotten awful since the v59 update. Extremely jagged and pixelated. And where the foveated rendering starts it's even like a ps1 game, so bad. Resident Evil 4 looked so much more crisp on the Q3 at first, since the v59 it looked almost worsr than the Q2 graphics. Vampire, Genotype, literally every game, up to the virtual environment. The battery Saver off or on doesn't seem to make any difference to graphics quality. They wanted to rma mine, but it won't make a difference, since it's obviously software related. I bought the QuestGameOptimizer, it helps override those extreme software limitations of Meta since v59. But the white artifacting that occassionaly came, is now even more often present, it seems like..

What are you talking about? Quest 3 doesn't have eye tracking ergo, no foviated rendering. 🤔 And i have not noticed a decrease in graphics, could it be something wrong with your headset. Is it not antialiasing properly? Or did you enable the power saver?

@@MrTeeF Well not real foveated rendering. But let's say the outer field is very low res, especially the top 30% of the screen. Where supposedly your focus wouldnt lie. So if you glance even slightly up, it's a pixelated mess, I took pictures through the lens for meta, it's really awful. But just overall, All the graphics became awful since v59 for me, and many others. I reset my Q3 twice, nothing.. tried the QuestGameOptimizer, just to try to push the graphics as before. And it worked, so it has to be a software issue on meta's side, imo.. On Reddit and the meta forums you come across many people where the graphics took a huge dump since the last update

Had wifi stabilities with my Quest 3 and Archer AXE75 through Virtual Desktop more or less from Day 1, Transmit link speed even tonight has gone from 1253 upto 2401 and its constantly up and down , im no more than 1 1/2m from my router , V59 issues , V60 still has issues it a pee take in a way as Meta have just allowed the Steam link onto it's store , so they are keen for users to play PCVR games but not like this

I haven't had the battery issues with my elite strap (yet) - would you recommend trying to get ahead of it and send back, or just wait for it to fail? Like is it a hardware issue, or software (in which case I assume an update would fix - so long as it's not bricked.)

Meta has indicated that it's a firmware issue and will fix it in the future. You don't have to get ahead of it because it is probably one of the better battery assesories on the marked. If it fails, you're always covered by warranty.

Having big problems with a link cable. Sometimes it works completely sometimes it only charges and won't connect to pc. Have to restart computer restart headset and sometimes starts working again.

That sounds strange. Maybe an issue with the cable? Also make sure your not running any unnecessary background processes. For example game "optimizers" like "razer game booster" has been known to mess up VR.

@@watcherworld5873The Samsung VR is a ways off… Their VR plans was reboot to complete with the Vision Pro, so expect another $3000+ headset. The only vr plans I heard from LG is that they are working with Meta on a Quest Pro 2 to compete with the Apple vision pro, so another $3000+ HMD. The Quest 3 and Pico 5 (if it isn’t canned due to the layoff) is probably your only bet for the next 3 years until Valve decides they want to release deckard

I'm thinking about returning mine, I got the Quest 3 512GB. I swear my right lens is slightly cloudy right where I have to look through it. If I lift up on the headset and look more through the bottom side of the lens it looks fine but when I let it back down you can see it go kinda blurry/cloudy. I'm going to clean the lenses and try to figure it out.

Ok, so I finally managed to save up enough to buy a 6e Unifi Access point. After much hassle and config I managed to isolate one Access Point and create a unique 6e network for my Quest 3. My wireless issues are still there, but the 2044mbps connection (as reported in Quest 3 settings and in Virtual Desktop) seems to be able to manage with the hiccups.

Nice. Dedicated Accsess point is the best option for perfect signal. You should receive a rock solid 2401 Mbps connection as soon as this is fixed.

I just played though all of lone echo 2 via virtual desktop, on a bt home hub 2, that just does 5gh, when ever I paused the game or took off the headset is goes very weird but other that I felt it was pretty good, slight improvement over quest2. I hope meta doesn’t forget pc vr. I think improve support will come, it just list of priorities my gut feeling is pretty low, wich is a shame.

As a day one owner, I knew there’d be issues and glitches, but I saw this was gonna be a game changer and be the catalyst for being the next microwave, eventually 90% of homes no matter the economic circumstances in the home, there’ll be a t least one vr device or more. The issues outside of the battery are code,mine lasts 2 hours native in vr no mr, pass through drains your batt almost as fast as the meta store drains your wallet. I have all the best games and kinda suck at all of them because I bounce around a lot , every time I hit a glitch I report it and never get a response and don’t care because no response is needed. I’d rather meta focus resources to code geeks than useless online reps stroking your fragile ego. Just ride it out and get a battery head strap and your golden. Rant over

That's why all these small and big problems (that QA should have caught) are so stupidly disappointing. I feel fortunate i mainly use my Q3 as wireless pc vr i have the cheapest wifi 6 Dlink rouler dedicated for about 60$ cad and no issue and got the cheapest battery strap 8000mah for 60$ cad and work pretty well. Meta accessories have an historic of been overpriced garbage. TPlink have always been an ok consumer brand good for the price but lacks in reliability. I experienced it to many times and that is why they are never used in industry. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome brand i got more options and control on my tplink routers then my Dlink routers but those are rock solid.

i solved wifi stability by placing my quest 3 headset in DMZ mode. it opens NAT. i do that with all consoles that im using to open NAT and solve connection problems

Try the transmission power settings on tp link settings after I change from high to medium my tp link c6 worked awsome no dips but I see 780mbps than 866 when I used my q2 with i(I don't actually know if axe5400 has a power transition setting)

Ye, it's fidgety. Trying to remove the faceplate is also a challenge to do without breaking it. Trick is to take one side at the time. Left then right. Also, adjust the spacer with it loose or laying the quest down on its face.

yeah i have noticed that the airlink is actually rather terrible even from y quest 2 the airlink was much more stable. i have had 2 crashes from games, but ever since update 59, i have noticed my quest 3 is more stable. the airlink is still spotty at best. but at least the pcvr has been stabilized.

Saints and sinners was pretty good, but retribution has tons of bugs and glitches. I'm not sure if it's the game or the headset, because it took me resetting my headset a couple times just to get the game to run in the first place.

@MrTeeF I loved it. There were a few glitches in my playthrough, but not as bad as Retribution. I lost my only gun while trying to pick something up while crouching. I got flung through two walls and a ceiling. Sometimes enemy faces are all mangled in weird way... lol it's kinda funny, but my game crashed on me earlier and I had to do an entire mission over again from the beginning. Boooo but I can say, as my first VR headset, my overall experience has been pretty great!

I fixed my Wi-Fi problems by moving my Wifi6/6E router closer to my play space. 6E range will not be as good as 6 due to design issues. At a guess the Wifi 6 on my Q3 is slightly worse than my Q2, and my router was just far enogh away from my place space (20-25 feet + Thru walls) for it to be noticable. At 10-15 foot its fine on 6 and 6E (TP AXE75).

My walls are plaster board or have a Window, so not to bad on interferance. Virtual desktop is fine at 200Mbps. Airlink is improved now the router is closer ( havent tested enough to say 4 sure)

@@MrTeeF They still have games in production. That’s the best support we can expect these days. That stuff takes time and money. Lots of it. And the pandemic put a huge slap on all of that. It was 3 years ago, true. But that’s a drop in the bucket for game devs. I would expect a 5-7 year dev cycle for a AAA game that fits to our sense standards. Not to mention it’s still a fairly new market and devs are still working it all out. My kids are going to be full adults by the time that all comes around.

It's upsetting that the Quest 3 does not support 120hz via the Link Cable, I really wanted the Quest 3 to play some PCVR with the increased resolution and state-of-the-art AI tracking for hands and controllers. There is no other PCVR headset that beats the features of Pancake lenses, FOV, Resolution and Tracking at this price.

Think of the screen as thousands of little led light bulbs. If one fails you have a dead pixel. Usually black. But it can be green, red or blue (stuck pixel)... can be hard to spot, so start a bright game or home environment to look for them.

Sorry you do not have to realize quest 3 works with any battery bank that has 12V output, you have to buy a big power bank if you want more time it is not difficult you have to use your brain a little.
