I must say, I've been using the Anachem Automotive Articulate NON-CAUSTIC TFR for some of my cleaning for about 18 months now and it's a great product. I use it at around 25:1 as a pre-wash, blanketed by their snow foam (ULTRA) - it has never had any observable impact on protection and certainly hasn't stained/etched any other exterior surfaces. Good explanation of what can go wrong with the wrong types of products though. But I wasn't blown away by the Blitz product!

This is my first experience with Blitz and ive only ever used a "TFR" a handfull of times, i didnt really test the cleaning power of this yet as ive not had a car dirty enough to try it on but next time i have my dads pick up ill give it a go. Im yet to try the Anachem stuff, from watching your videos on them, they look like good solid products.

Great video explaining the use of tfr... hear a lot of people scared of using it, but it does have a place in your detailing kit.

Thanks mate, I think people get put off that type of product when the see the damage that can be done by the caustic versions, but hopefully this video shows that if you use a non caustic version correctly then it’s worth having a bottle kicking about.

Another interesting video I have TFR in my collection but I never use it I rather use Citrus and have 5L to be diluted up to 100 to 1. I normally use at 30 to 1 and it works well.to get through so I will be sticking to that especially after watching this. Thanks for the heads up. Just finished a 2 day detail that turned out brilliant and the customer is delighted but I caught this as the computer was being switched off for the night so had to watch.

Thanks again John, yes TFR is good to have in the kit but unless a car is already a mess and someone just wants a quick once over or has some seriously stuck on traffic film I wouldn’t drop below a citrus. Also sorry for the late reply, for some reason this comment went into my held for review comments.

Non caustic TFR is normally ok to use , caustic ones can destroy trim and chrome , I know it stained someone’s chrome trim and that happened at hand car wash. These days there’s lots of snow foams and citrus pre washes called TFR, theres even a Autoglym TFR which is suitable for all exterior and interior , basically a all purpose cleaner. Normally a non caustic one is ok but caustic ones will destroy chrome and plastics . Some TFR’s even say they are safe on coated cars

I’ve seen some horror shows caused by caustic versions of TFR, it really does have such a broad range tho as essentially the aim of all pre wash is to remove traffic film.

@@DavidMcBay years ago a TFR was known as some aggressive pre wash but these days anything that can remove traffic film they can call it TFR , that’s why you got snow foams and citrus pre washes called TFR, but I’ve seen the caustic stuff damage chrome , it just stains it all over the chrome and makes it dull and even polishing the chrome can’t get it back to how it was. Lots of people talk about how good power maxed TFR is . I want to try it but I can’t find any info if it’s caustic or not , my car is just months old and has chrome and the chrome is in Perfect condition so I don’t want to ruin it, it’s meant to be very good but I can’t risk using it incase it ruins the chrome .

You cant go wrong with citrus mate, especially in your line of work. last thing you would want is a call from a customer saying you messed up their car.

That was a very informative video mate showing that if a TFR (non-caustic) is used correctly they can be as safe to use as any other chemical. being a hobbyist and not letting my car get to dirty though ill be sticking to a citrus like yourself.
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 2 жыл бұрын
Thankyou mate, yeah tfr has its place but for the hobbyist a citrus is the way forward.

Thankyou Martin, they have never been a product that I've ever felt the need to use regularly and have always been put off by the fear of chemical burns, this non caustic version seems a bit tamer but i didn't have a dirty enough car to test the cleaning abilities so that'll be for another video.

Not used many TFR’s , probably something that was always advised to steer clear of , but that Blitzed one actually looks as though it’s not as aggressive as the ones car washes use , i have used the Autoglanz one on a van and that didn’t clean well at all so I’m interested in finding out more about them. Where do they sit in the ph scale and what makes them different to a snow foam ? 🤔

Im the same as you Graeme, never been a product that i use regularly so interested to do some further testing and try get a few other TFR products to do a bit of a comparison.

Another interesting one! Like yourself, I expected a much more damaging result - especially that 1:10 mix on the bonnet. Any thoughts on the results? Was it quality chemicals (I’m not familiar with blitz), or maybe a ‘weaker’ version of a tfr?
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 2 жыл бұрын
This is a non-caustic version so the cheaper harmful chemicals shouldn’t be in this product which is probably why I didn’t get the drastic results I wanted. TFR covers such a broad range of products, I’ve yet to try this one on a dirty vehicle but I’m sure I’ll get the chance soon enough.

Like you I find no need for them as a citrus usually deals with what I need it to. Every brand is different too and the lines between tfr, citrus and apc can be as murky as all the types of QDs we all have in our heads what it means but there is no standard.
@DavidMcBay
@DavidMcBay 2 жыл бұрын
I think if your a professional you would use them alot more as they are cheap and a little goes a long way but for us enthusiasts unless i was doing a tractor or truck then yes a citrus is enough for me although im still glad to have it on the shelve incase i ever need it. The term TFR is so vague, i mean essentially anything that removes traffic film could be labeled TFR, i think someone could come up with a better name for the different types of that kind of chemical.
