Great video Dave. So would you use this instead of a citrus pre wash or what is the real difference? Maybe if car is protected use citrus but if not and you’re about to apply some protection then use the TFR?
@DetailingandtheBeast4 жыл бұрын
Exactly that, you got it! Depending on the protection levels you may well just use a foam. Next step up would be the Citrus, and then the TFR. I see it like this, if you are a valeter, and the car is new to you, use the TFR. Once the car is a regular and you know its past in terms of maintenance then you would choose foam or Citrus. 👍

@royalstevep684 жыл бұрын
Is it caustic or non caustic tfr. I'm not a fan of tfr as especially the caustic version is akin to putting drain cleaner on your car and strips everything including wax etc and if not used correctly or washed off thoroughly will destroy the clearcoat and paint over time. I'm assuming its non caustic as it states it doesnt strip wax. However I still wouldnt use tfr. Dont get why people dont just use snowfoam and a decent shampoo like britemax shampoo, using pure water rinse.
@DetailingandtheBeast4 жыл бұрын
It is caustic. It contains sodium hydroxide at less than 1% in its concentrated format. But the percentage when diluted makes it wax and LSP safe (so Power Maxed say). As to if you should or shouldn't use it, is 100% a personal preference, but for me this cleans better than any snow foam I have EVER used.

@DetailingandtheBeast Жыл бұрын
This is strong stuff, but it's obviously not a foam. If you want a foam that cleans then I like the jennychem tfr foam, or adding citrus directly to any snowfoam for more bite. But yes, I'm with you. Most foams even from big players, are poor performers. Last year, I tried a long awaited foam and it was garbage at removing ANY of the traffic film (despite the bottle claiming it would). Kinda put me off the brand, and distrust in labels in general.

@jez lucas I'd probably go first with citrus and foam mix. 10% foam, 5% citrus, 85% water. And if that doesn't do what you're after then go for a TFR. They're strong and do need some level of thought about safety towards rubbers etc if used longer term. But I use the powermaxed stuff over winters and it's been awesome for that exact kind of "can't be arsed this week" washes.

You could, but I just wouldnt, not really needed. But if you did just be aware of your PIRs, you'd likely need a lot in a lance to get a decent ratio on the panel. Hi mate, has your opinion changed since making this video in regards to having to rinse the vehicle before applying a prewash? A lot of videos these days recommended applying a prewash on a dry car as to not dilute the prewash solution. Be interesting to know after 2 years are you still using the same method?
@DetailingandtheBeast2 жыл бұрын
Exactly the same method. In my opinion, pre rinsing is essential to remove the first 70% of everything. However, having seen this debate come around myself, I concluded that after a pre-rinse that my car usually has a few minutes to "drip dry" somewhat anyway. I see the argument but in reality, it's just being pedantic for the sake of content (in my opinion of course 😉).

What's your view on turtle wax black wax kits or can you recommend a good wax for black paintwork as you know I have 3 black vehicles lol
@DetailingandtheBeast4 жыл бұрын
Colour isnt important. Anyone who tells you it is, is simply marketing something. Yeah you have black paint, but that it coated with clear, it's the clear that wax sits on top of. These colour changing waxes are simply gimmicks. However.... the new TW Black range does look very interesting from what I have seen, but Turtle Wax is a brand trying to "KZbin bribe" it's way back into favour, so I personally steer clear. For me, I like the ceramic waxes. So I did a video on the EZ car care one, that wax is always a hit with people, Autobrite do one called Ballad, but it's expensive (like over 100quid!), then you have JaysWax and in2detailing that have pretty much the same thing too for various prices. Aim to be spending around 20quid.

Great review thanks. Quick question it didn't seem like the initial rinse made any difference at all to the end result and would have been a waste of time and water. Why bother with it. Besides looks like you have a nice gauge to see where you have properly rinsed the tfr off with the dirt. I'm always trying to simplify and speed things up like you do in your videos , why not lose that initial rinse down. Same with foaming just skip that initial rinse
