I plan on making a mini bike frame, so not governed by a rule book. My question is, should I go with a die that has a larger or smaller minimum clr for my bends? My current plans call would have one 180degree bend at about 6.5inches. The dies I’m looking at fall on either side of this measurement, would it be easier to go larger or smaller and do two 90degree bends? Thanks!

How many inches of pulley would be needed to bend a two-inch tube?

im completely new to welding and tube bending but i been wanting to start learning it for years. I got a great deal on a bender that came with 2 180 degree dies (1 1/2" and 2") but they both 6.5" and they are MASSIVE (and heavy too)..i wonder if that would be improper or look weird for building roll cages ...should i buy smaller dies or can i just use these for fabrication?

those will work fine, depends how tight you want the cage to the interior of the car... most of the time you can get away with a die that big.

I’m looking to getting into frame building but I’m a complete noob, I like the jd2 tube bender, I’m looking into getting the 1 1/4 for DOM ‘120 wall dies which two should I get first? I’ll build from there on. Thanks

How do you find the clr of a tube that's already bent?

in a 90 degree bend where a line perpendicular from the start point and end point of the bend meet x2, for bends less than 90degrees im sure theres a way to figure it out with some maths and angles but people that are into cage building can most likely look at a bend and know what die made it they only come in 1" increments for each tubing size typically so itll be 4.5" or 5.5" not 4.65" no one makes that die itd need to be custom made
