Yep. So this is the cannon of the TFS Nuzelock-verse: The first trainer we see is Maquibi as she travels the region and becomes a champion. She fell in love with a conman called Scott during her journey and was obsessed with making him happy because of her teenage naïveté. She eventually discovered that he was lying and was blinded by grief. She ran off to kill the three beings who where the cause of all the destruction in her region. And in her rage she stumbled across Steven, who was determined to stop her from causing anymore damage in her blind furry. They battle, Maquibi's Pokémon valiantly fighting for the one they all came to love either as family or more. Finally Steven had enough and aimed to kill Maquibi during the battle, seeing no other way. And Maquibi's Pokémon all sacrificed themselves for her, protecting her.... And breaking her heart. She had a one night stand as she ran off to Johto, using online shopping and gambling and drinking to drown out the pain. And after all she had seen, she had become too terrified to even take a step outside her house. Years later a young man called Likiger emerged, slowly turning into a monster as he desimated Kanto until he finally disappeared atop Mount Silver. After another time skip Miquibi's son, TANTOR, took off on his journey. Originally a troublemaker, he grew close to his Pokémon and after seeing horrors became a hero and selfishly took down the monster, Likiger. TANTOR eventually got married and moved to Alola where his son, Lerenti, saved the region from the Ultra Beasts..... When all he wanted was to go to sleep!

Meanwhile, a few years later, Ethan moved to Kanto, settled down with a female trainer, had a son, started his own gang, and changed his name to Giovanni. Alongside that, Steven, after vanquishing Maqubi, explored Kanto, but had a one-night stand with a female trainer, which led to them having a son. Ten years later, Steven decided to continue his journey, abandoning his family. The female trainer and her son moved to a new house in a small town called Pallet Town. Wally was found dead behind a Poké-Mart, face first in a puddle of snot.

You see in the original timeline Melvin died but the game and cotton Jim lived, but in this timeline they both died and Melvin lived on. So perhaps in this timeline Melvin is the father and Maqubi is Tantor's mother, however in the alternate timeline Maqubi and Melvin died before they could have offspring, so did Tantor and Ivan not exsist? Or did they still exists because reality dictated so, maybe Tantor and Ivan had different parents... WAIT!!!!! There is a Slugma who is relevant to the timeline who would survive if maqubi died in the Winona timeline... by god... BRENDAN'S SLUGMA IS THE FATHER IN THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE!!! THIS IS BIG NEWS!!!!

I would have named that Sudowoodo Scott, since you just found out he's a FAKER! That's just me, though. But poor Maqubi. She started her journey walking out of a truck, asking "Who am I? What am I? Am I a robot? A mail order child? What... do I do?" Her journey gave her so many answers to who she was. She became a parent. A savior. A time-breaker. A dancer. A champion... She was Maqubi. She had finally accepted that and decided to conquer the legends The Game left behind. She couldn't have known it was going to break her. To kill her children, to find out the one person she looked up to was nothing more than a con man trying to steal her heart, and then to find out that someone had broken a tower and forced her to deal with horrible bike controls. Seriously, who does that? In the end, after all that happened in her journey... The loss of loved ones, and some she didn't care for, along with the various people she defeated on her quest to find herself... it was Steven that drove her insane. What started as a friendly challenge, merely to test to see if she could beat him as she was, ended up becoming a blood bath. No one is quite sure what happened to Steven after that. Maqubi herself can only recall everything going white before waking up in front of a Pokemon Center; blood coating her hands and the corpses of her fallen family being contained in the Pokeballs around her waist. She put each one of them in the press... and turned around, only taking Melvin with her to find some form of sanctuary with the loss of all her true friends. Her true children. What will happen now to the Legend that was Maqubi? We all know her tale ends up becoming one full of sorrow; begging her son for cash, drinking away her depression in the hopes that her memories will go with it, and never leaving her house; relying heavily on... Jerry to sate her needs. But that was while her son was on his journey. Now that he has become champion, and effectively cut her off his money, will the spark of the trainer she once was return to Maqubi? Will her child, who has also experienced loss, be able to help her? Or will it be her Grandson, who can never seem to stop himself from helping people out, that finally cures her? I like to imagine at the end of TANTOR's Gaiden adventure, after TANTOR slept, Mr Stake went downstairs, sensing Maqubi's sadness. "MURRRSTAKE!" she heard the Pokemon calling out to her. She saw the Pokemon smiling, rather sadly, as if trying to understand her grief. "Stake?" he called out again. Everything she remembered from her journey flashed through her eyes. The innocent smile of this one Pokemon reminded her of all her happy times. She slowly left her chair and walked towards the green Pokemon. She bursts into tears and hugged Mr Stake. She heard those voices in her head (and her son) constantly mocking this green creature, and heard names that made her realised that those voices guiding through her journey had already experienced her son's before, and now, it's her turn to truly love again, her son and his own partner, who had grown into the unkillable god that she wished her own partners had.

The Diamond and Pearl Nuzlocke explains everything. TFS screws with time and space, causing the Emerald Nuzlocke timeline to split, but also to warp back in on each other. In this timeline, Maqubi loses to Steven and eventually becomes the depressed, drunk, shopaholic, mother of TANTOR, but in the alternate timeline, Maqubi dies at Winona, along with her team. THAT Maqubi was the sister of TANTOR, and her death pushed her mom, this timeline's Maqubi, over the edge, plunging her even deeper into depression. She divorces Norman (who may or may not have changed his name in the past... Something about everyone getting his name wrong...) and takes her son with her to Johto, where he one day becomes the Pokemon CHAMPION!

They obviously knew that Steven was going to be too much for them and expected to lose to him. The series was over, grinding up to the 70's would be a waste of time. That being said, I don't think they threw the fight, they probably would have won if Armaldo didn't get that high roll to killed Cotton Jim and/or if Metagross didn't get that crit to kill Skidds. They just got unlucky there at the end it seems.
