You know what would be amazing in tft if they do another runeterra lore based set? If they create and origin trait based on shadow isles champion being corrupted. That way they could use uncorrupted kalista and viego, import human hecarim from wild rift, create Ledros and thresh and based on a mechanics they turn into the shadowy version with different abilities. We have seen things like that in the past ex: kda/true dmg akali, jayce swaping stances... An example of that would be kalista as human goes melee with the spear and does something while ruined kalista becomes ranged and can execute targets if she impales them enough.

This is another one of those ways that TFT shows why it had such an advantage over Legends of Runeterra - when TFT branches out to create a new champion specifically for TFT, they're still making assets that are compatible with the core game. In other words, if Kobuko is super popular across several sets and they wind up making _skins_ for him for TFT, they wind up with a starting point for importing him into League itself. Compare that to Jack or Norra, from Legends of Runeterra, who were really cool in their own right (Jack especially). While they had great 2d art and fun high-poly (relatively. Mostly) models for their level-ups, they don't have assets or mechanics that they share with the core game of the IP. Kobuko already has movement and attack animations and at least one ability animation. Having that and an identity within the game makes player more excited to imagine what he might be like in LoL or in 2XKO or any other League IP game.

I'm not putting this on the LoR developers as a negative, for what it's worth. I'm saying that when you compare the cost inputs and profit outputs from the two products, it's no wonder LoR struggled to find its footing. The cost vs output graph started in the negative, whereas TFT's basically started in the positive.

I'd say LOR still has an advantage to its character design, in the way how they pave the road for future stories or correct League's mistakes. It's just more difficult to leave a lasting impression on the average League player who isn't used to card games.

5:13 - I feel like this is how they used to do stuff in the Braum through Jhin days. Like, I remember them talking about Jhin and a couple of other champs in the time period as basically being a loose concept (sniper) that didn't start to really come together until the personality / vibe settled in (Jhin's expression of art through murder, serial killer shit). I feel like the older champions that had more of a 'vibe' based design have so much more personality, which makes their stories so much more exciting to engage with. Like, genuinely, isn't that 90% of the appeal of Yasuo, just the samurai vibes? Or even Draven? Like, you know how little I care about Sett? I love Sett as a champion. I think his whole mechanical identity is super cool, fisticuffs street brawler who just tanks damage in order to turn it around into a devastating haymaker. Super fun. But the actual character, Sett? He's just a dickhead with a mean right hook and a knack for creative accounting.

I would like to see The Maker from LoR (Jhin's patron apparently from the Kashuri armory), the one with a LOT of mechanical arms. NOt really as a unit, more like a mechanic. The same way we had in the past portals, augments, champions (as bonus) but make it more... interactive, with a character nad give her some animations. Could be interesting, she could be related to crafting mechanics, not only items.
