Yes, yes, yes... I KNOW... Road Rash started out on the Megadrive/Genesis. I was having a brain fart and was confusing it with Need For Speed, which did start on the 3DO 😅

BITD, me and my peer group used to refer to White Lightning as 'Quite Frightening', eg; "Where's John?" "Stuck in the bog, he's been on the Quite Frightening again" ;-)

I think they were pre-rendered sprites, as opposed to realtime 3D models. It's a common trick on GBA 3D racing games.

Now THIS is a GBA racing game I would play. Judging by the gameplay footage, I can definitely see the draw distances look decent.

Reminded of spending way too many hours of my life playing V-Rally 3 on the Advance. The system was disarmingly good at 3D, makes me wonder what new chips added to carts could have done for the SNES if the N64 had not been such a focus.

That city map reminds you of Road Rash. That's normal. It reminds me of the first Need For Speed game. How weird is that? "Right/left turn ahead" I believe he says. The game looks fun. I would be satisfied with it. Thanks for sharing.

I was going to say the city track reminds me of ESPN Xtreme Sports on PS1, but I also see the resemblance to Road Rash. It's that wavy tunnel of flat buildings that gives off the vibe. This is still very impressive for GBA. I think the reason for road ways with a turn always just a little way off is to help with the draw distance. They don't have to draw as much and give you that bummer of seeing through the magic of the tech, but also it gets rid of the problem of feeling like you're not ready for what's ahead. I do notice the LOD for the 3D models of opposing vehicles is janky and reminds me of the janky LOD for non-scaling 2D sprite shooters such as various ports for Space Harrier, but it's probably not as noticeable when you're playing.

I've played this , really good graphics for GBA ,I also got a k101 from anbernic it plays gba cartridges too and is bit bigger than Gameboy micro ,I'm playing Doom 1&2 on it lately if interested it's a good buy I think
