[Seattle] Fire Dept. Aid 5 Responding With Siren & Horn

Captured here is Aid 5 of the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) responding to a medical emergency in Downtown Seattle with some good use of the electronic siren horn. While the 'Aid' and 'Medic' units under Seattle's 'Medic One' program are technically ambulances they almost never transport patients, which is the job of private healthcare providers like the American Medical Response (AMR).

I didn't know that SFD Medic and Aid units rarely transported. I wonder why that is. I always thought that they handled the majority of the EMS transports.

nice video! My favortie Ford label ambulance. vietnam have ford transit ambulance but vietnamese ambulance is'not model than US ambulance

hưng đoàn phúc Thank you very much! :) Yes I have seen many Ford transit ambulances in Vietnam. The only American Ford ambulances there are run by EMR *9999.

Why go with an ambulance rather than an SUV if they don't transport?

R @ Z Z Good question. I think they want to have the option to transport in case it is very urgent, but this is almost never done. I could also imagine that the fire dept. Aid units could serve as backup ambulances in case AMR is overwhelmed, or in case of a major incident. Other than that these units can probably carry more equipment than an SUV.
