Just remember, ATLA was the story of an avatar that never wanted to be one in a world that needed one, and learns to accept it. Korra is the story of someone that always wanted to be the avatar in a world where they dont need one as much anymore, and she has to learn to be a better person.

You noticed that one of Aang and Katara's kids was named Bumi, after one of Aang's closest friends. But the other two kids have meaningful names as well. Kya was named after... Kya. Sokka and Katara's mother. As for the one we're focusing on, Tenzin? He was named after a real life Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. If that last name sounds familiar, that's because AtLA had a character named after him - Aang's airbending master and friend Monk Gyatso. So ya.

So one neat detail in the Avatar universe is that every new Avatar kind of makes up for whatever they regretted/lacked in their previous life...since Avatar Aang had to learn all the elements from scratch in just a few months, in the next life Korra is born with all her knowledge about bending so that Avatar wont have to do that again....similarily Avatar Yangchen was very devoted to her Avatar role but had no personal life so in her next life Avatar Kuruk went "go with the flow" and focused more on his personal life rather than his duties but he died very young but then in next life Avatar Kiyoshi in order to make up for that lived for 200 years but she never found any love/partner in life...Roku found love very early in his life but his regret was the hundred year war and Aang did end the hundred year war.

They do not confirm in the show: Aang died at 66 and Korra is 16, so 69/70 years have passed since ATLA finale. Aang died fairly young because he had constantly been using the Avatar State for 100 years and the strain basically took years off of his life. Also, nobody ever comments on the fact Katara and Aang named their daughter after Katara and Sokka's mom.

@PelafinaLievre Жыл бұрын
@@jasmine9581onfirmed by writers via social media. Kind of like dying of old age while still fairly young. I also have my own ideas as to why it might have been accelerated, but that involves the plot of season 2. Long and short of it is you would probably want the Avatar to be in peak physical condition for the events of season 2, rather than a young child or old man. Also you should finish the series. Seasons 3 and 4 are better than 2, because when it was green lit for season 3, it was also green lit for season 4. It allowed the writers to know how long they had to tell a story. Also season 3 is best villain.

I think the thing that you guys felt was off about the fights is that the bending choreography doesn't use as much traditional martial arts movement as it did in ATLA. While before bending was based off of different forms of martial arts, such as kung fu and tai chi, LoK uses a more MMA style of fight choreography for it's bending movements, which I feel is an accurate evolution of style in the universe, as benders in the now peaceful world would take inspiration from different bending styles to come up with different moves, like how Iroh developed his lightning redirection by studying waterbenders.

My favorite part of Korra is how they weren't afraid to not do repeat stories. Aang was about a person learning how to be the avatar all the elements etc. Korra is about the avatar learning to be a person. Her story is more about emotional and personal complexity rather than physical and mental like with aang. Korra was locked up for 17 years with no social life being told repeatedly she is the savior of the world and the best person in the world. Obviously she is gonna have some social issues and ego issues to work through. So I love both these stories that the avatar world has created!

I love both shows how difficult it was for the Avatar to learn a particular element. Aang had to get more physical with Earthbending while Korra had to get more Spiritual with Airbending. Yeah the show hits really quick, but you should probably know that originally the first season of the show was meant to be just a short one season show. It was never meant to actually continue on for another few seasons, but the people at the top asked for more so the writers had to pump out more stuff. That is actually why the finale of the first season feels like it wraps up really quickly with fixing the plot. Beyond that most of the story overall beyond that is a lot more consistent, well aside from a messy relationship stuff but eh some ups and some downs.
