The reason asta vs ladros looked like that is because of understaffing and lack of time. The animation director literally had to beg animators on Twitter to help with that episode. Whereas as this one had a much better schedule, probably the best in the series and he was actually able to do his job and look over every last frame

I think this is the point in the series where they actually decided to give the BC production staff a real animation budget 😂 It might not always be this clean, but it’s still better than the first half from here on out imo. Also, I realise it’s ages away, but I can’t wait for you guys to reach the movie to see what BC can look like with a proper movie budget to work with 🔥

I think people miss how good of a job these fights do at portraying Asta as unlucky and Yuno as lucky. Asta "won" his draw by being stronger than Langris, but lost. Yuno "lost" his draw (Rill was still playing around and was stronger) but won.

by the way, episodes 85 and 86 were not in the manga but they are canon because Tabata (Black Clover’s writer) wrote this story in a light novel.

Idk why other ppl don't talk about this fight more but I love it😭 i think ppl give Rill sh!t for losing even tho it was stressed that he destroyed his own crystal. Rill is one of my fav characters cuz his magic is so cool and versatile and this fight is one of best in the show

Imo, best fight of the series, you can do so much with rills magic in terms of animation that it will always be cool, and if im not mistaken, the fight was short in the manga so whoever storyboard this episode deserves a standing ovation

If I had to rank battles without spoilers I'd say 1. Future episode 2. Veto battle 3. Future episode 4. Licht vs Wizard King 5. Future episode 6. Yuno vs Rill 7. Yami vs Licht I only mention wizard King battle because I see you already watched it on patreon comment. Now I don't judge these on "animation quality", too many snobs out there seem to equate Animation quality with great fight. I just go with "that was epic" in terms of cool shit pulled off or big turning points.
