There’s so many amazing parallels and even a bit of foreshadowing in each strawhats reactions in this episode Zoro being the one protected by the crew instead of the opposite way around Brook saying he doesn’t care if he dies as long as he doesn’t have to lose another crew Ussop scrambling to fight back instead of run away Sanji being so frustrated that he’s losing the people he cares about most that he attacks without thinking. It also seems that pulling his hair is a nervous tick for him Franky fighting to not lose another family to the very end Nami asking for help the same way she asked for help in arlong park Chopper being ok with becoming a monster if it means his friends are safe Robin calling and reaching out to luffy in a similar way to when she had her “i want to live” moment And finally luffy, breaking down because not only is he alone without his crew, but he also feels he failed by not being strong enough to protect them. It’s notable that the only other time so far we’ve seen luffy this shaken was in reverse mountain when laboon swallowed the crew and he thought he had failed to protect them then. Very excited to see your guys reactions to what comes next.

NO SPOILER: Because of the nature of the Japanese language and the lack of pronounce most of the time the sentence that Kuma said to Luffy at the end can mean "We will never meet again" but also "You will never meet them again". When the episode first aired the translation was actually the former, because the contest and from Luffys perspective it makes more sense that Kuma was saying Luffy won't see his friends ever again.

What most other people don't realise is that, even if we know One Piece is there for another few hundred episodes, Luffy doesn't know this. A random warlord is making his crew disappear in front of his eyes while he is helpless. We feel sadness not because we are worried for them, we are worried about Luffy.

If you told me Zoro and Sanji wouldn't share screentime together in the Anime for Seven goddamn years from 2014 to 2021 I wouldn't have believed you. Thankfully there were movies Film Gold and Film Stampede to have them interact with each other but I want new Strawhats to know the pain we waited for them to bicker off each other for the better part of a decade. And in true Fashion when Zoro and Sanji reunite it was glorious and we were all hyped to see it. Yo mosshead. 'sup eyebrows.

Same.. i think that they portrayed luffy's crying and fristration really well. The way he's squirming on the ground and banging his head. It's so relatable and realistic, especially considering luffy's age, and fhat feeling of hopelessness, that you couldnt do anything except laahing out on yourself . 😢

In the manga after this chapter released the manga took a one month break. Imagine having to wait a full month to find out what happened. Thankfully for Oda's health and his family he now takes one break week every month, but at the time this released that wasn't the case and month long breaks haven't happened often. I think only this time, two years after this, and then once last year in preparation for the final saga.

Def one of my favorite episodes but also one of the hardest to watch. With Luffy he's always the one to take on the big bad to protect his crew when he needs to. And every arc he goes through it but he always comes out on top. But in Sabaody he and the whole Strawhat crew were just completely outclassed. Moria wasn't lying when he talked about how scary the new world really is.

One thing i never noticed and find funny is sanji saying how he could let 2 of his friends disappear, meaning he included zoro. Which i mean is obvious that they're actual friends and dont actually hate each other but, it just lets you know in desperate situations sanji admits zoro being his friend.

When Luffy found him and renewed his hope, Brook was brought back to life for a second time, only to have to relive losing yet another crew. Franky was super reignited with his ship, which was supposed to sail to the end of the Grand Line, but he didn't even make it to the next island before his bubble burst. Robin had the chance to ask Rayleigh everything, but decided to put that on hold because she wanted to live the adventure with the friends Saul promised her. Now her future is as void as the past. Chopper could never find a home with reindeer or with humans, and it took a crew of fellow monsters to heal the wound in his heart. Looks like even his most monstrous wasn't enough. Nami hated pirates after they took away her family. Now that her pirate family has been taken from her as well, I imagine she'd pay anything to get them back. Sanji has always dreamed of the mythical sea where all the four blues converge into one, and Luffy was the one who always supported that dream. Now, literally the place where the four seas intersect is where everything spiraled out of control. Our brave warrior of the sea knew that sticking with Luffy was the way to go, to the point that he was eventually able to give up his beloved ship to continue this journey. Turns out that was all a lie. And Zoro, the wandering samurai. A lone wolf, and a leader more than anything, he found someone he was actually willing to follow. Now... he truly has no sense of direction.

I remember reading this years ago and though the whole scene was set up to be very emotional I also thought that this was the best thing that could have happened to them. Zoro was seriously injured and the others werent that much better either and they were literally send somewhere where they were safer. Almost every place was safer at that time. And after it was even confirmed that it´s "just" a teleportation it was kinda relieving to know they get more or less unharmed out of it. I mean ... yeah, searching the team back together is hard but definitely not impossible, especially with smart teammembers like Nami, Robin and Usopp who are smart enough to leave trails etc. At least that´s what I thought back then. But as I read it there were already a few more chapters out so I knew it didnt stop there and ofc that helped a lot with keeping calm XD

There is no way you are taking sides with the plot armor, Kuma saving luffy like that would've been the biggest plot armor in history, and Oda is not doing stuff like that, you don't know the real reason why he helped them and that it's revealed in the future.
